Ospreys Wheelchair Rugby Club

Ospreys Wheelchair Rugby Club TogetherAsOne! Whether you want to play competitively or socially, you are welcome here. We are one club with two teams, and we play in two leagues.

Ospreys Wheelchair Rugby Team
Based in Aberavon, Port Talbot, we are a club committed to creating a space for disabled people of all ages and abilities. Ospreys WRC has been around since 2015, before that we were known as the South Wales Pirates and we were the first wheelchair rugby club in South Wales back in the late 1980’s. We still have some of the original players with us including Gareth St

okes who is now the Head Coach for Ospreys WR. GBWR Quads Super Series for players with upper limb impairment & GBWR 5s for those who don’t qualify for the quads. Whatever your age or disability our mission is to offer all levels of training from the beginners to the elite and provide full support to all who join the Ospreys family. Whether you want to just keep fit or take it to your next level and become a team member. Anything is possible if you believe in yourself…. Not sure it’s the right sport for you? Come and give it a ‘try’ and see for yourself by making your ‘goals’ reality. The opportunities are endless…

It’s a Paralympic Sport which is also known as Murderball or Quad Rugby

Here’s a throwback to a special video we shared last year as we celebrated 25 years of wheelchair rugby at the Paralympic Games.

“Without these people here tonight, I wouldn’t be the man I am now.”

The film reunited members of the original Great Britain team, alongside friends, family and supporters, to reflect on the incredible journey since its debut at Atlanta in 1996 as a demonstration sport then at Sydney in 2000. Their stories are a powerful reminder of the impact wheelchair rugby has had on so many lives.
