Becs is very proud to be Nantwich Running Club’s ‘Member of the Month’! Read what she had to say:
Nine years ago, I retrained as a Personal Trainer after spending five years as a stay-at-home mum. With a background in science, I loved getting back into learning, particularly anatomy and physiology, and I’ve always had a passion for sport and fitness.
At the time, I was only running the occasional 5km to keep my cardiovascular fitness ticking over. Everything changed when I signed up for my first half marathon so I could train alongside my very first PT client. Before I knew it, I’d entered my first marathon, and I was completely hooked.
Since then, running has become such a huge part of my life. I’ve gone on to complete several half marathons, three marathons and three ultramarathons. Every race has taught me something different, but one thing that’s remained constant is how important strength training is in helping me stay resilient and enjoy running for longer.
When lockdown hit, I wanted to help people stay connected and keep moving, so I started Runners’ Strength & Conditioning classes for Nantwich Running Club. It was amazing to see so many members logging on each week, supporting one another through such a challenging time. Those virtual classes have continued ever since because they’ve remained so popular, alongside the in-person studio sessions.
Being part of Nantwich Running Club has introduced me to an incredibly supportive community. Whether it’s celebrating PBs, encouraging someone through their first race, or simply enjoying a chat on a club run, the friendships and encouragement make the miles even more worthwhile.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported the classes, both online and in person, and to the club for making me feel so welcome over the years.
Here’s to helping even more runners stay stronger, healthier and running for longer.
