Unfortunately our game has been called off this week. Instead we are having a training match all are welcome.

We are back.....

After our Winter hibernation Cricket resumes this weekend at the Links. We are delighted to host Forres St. Lawrence Cricket Club in our first game as defending Development Cup champions.

Hi Folks, hope all are well.
NoSCA CLUBS / CAPTAINS!
End of season/Winter can be a time when players often lose contact, perhaps pile on a few pounds, and recruitment opportunities can understandably go 'on hold'.
A SOLUTION: As a way to keep players in touch, reduce Winter pounds - and potentially recruit next season players, I'd very much, actively encourage players to consider pickleball - as a Winter pursuit and/or to compliment Winter nets/additional activity through a cricket season.
HOW: I've a Whatsapp forum/Group* in Inverness where folks can advertise on it where they have Highlife Highland courts booked, so others can come along and join in (please PM me and I can very gladly give you my number and add interested persons to our group). I've already had a few Nairn fellow cricketers take part who greatly enjoyed it - and I'd hope that other cricketers from all clubs in the Highland Region* area would like to take part also (eg: Highland/N Counties in Inverness - but also I know that eg Fort William now had pickleball, Skye and Dingwall. Also in other areas, there's local authority based pickleball in Elgin, Forres, Huntly).
SOCIABLE, FITNESS: It's a cheap sort to play, and as energetic as you want it to be - and always sociable. Anyone can pick it up almost straight away. In Highland, if you're a Highlife Highland member, it's completely free of charge.
CRICKET RECRUITMENT POTENTIAL: I've also met some folks at pickleball with no interested in cricket previously, who I've talked to at sessions and who are interested in trying out cricket when the season restarts - so it's a good chance not only for social aspects and fitness - but also for recruitment.

****RESULT******

Nairn hosted Northern Counties Cricket Club in the final development league game of the season. The game was played in brilliant fashion and was a last ball thriller which unfortunately went the way of Northern Counties.

Nairn batted first led by skipper Dave Wolton who made 76 he was backed up by A Gallop with 31 and Ian Crowson contributing with a useful 17. Nairns innings stuttered in the middle overs and we got to 172/7 from 40 overs.

Bowling Nairn got off to a great start Tom Hughes, in his final game bowling 8 overs for 24 he was backed up by Ewan Mcneil again rarely conceding runs he bowled his 8 for only 15.

Unfortunately Northern Counties put together a couple of good partnerships and that was enough to close the game out albeit on the final ball of the innings.

The game was played in great spirit and great to see young cricketers playing.

NAIRN WIN

Nairn are the 2025 Development Cup winners.

Nairn travelled to Strathpeffer to contest the 2025 final yesterday, playing against Highland Cricket Club who have been in superb form all season.

Nairn won the toss and put Highland Cricket Club into bat first with a wet outfield. Nairn were brilliant restricting Highland to 82 from 30 overs

opening bowlers Ewan MCNEIL and Tom HUGHES got Nairn off to a fantastic start bowling very accurately restricting Highland to very few scoring opportunities. Alex Elliot and Dan Whitehead came on bowling with hostility. Man of the Match Alex ELLIOT finished with 3-20 from his 6 overs.

Batting Skipper Dave WOLTON led from the front with a superb 34 even when Nairn lost a couple of quick wickets Martin BRONKHURST came in to calm the nerves and see the team home.

Nairn Win

Nairn travelled to Fochabers Cricket Club on Sunday for a league game, both teams were not in contention of the title by this point.

On a hot day Nairn batted first with Dave Wolton and Chris Woodward making a half century partnership before Woodward was out for 31. Dave went on to make 59 another half century this season for the skipper. he was backed up by Adam Gallop and Martin Bronkhurst who both continued their good seasons with 50's.

In reply Nairn got off to a good start with Tom Hughes and Ewan Mcneil bowling with good control and picking up 3 wickets in the opening spell. That restricted Fochabers Cricket Clubreply. All the bowlers contributed and they were backed up with a good effort in the field.
