Body Fat Calipers -

Body fat calipers take a reading of your body fat by measuring your skin folds. There are many different ways, the simplest is a four part reading approach which measures both sides of the upper arm, just above your hip, and just next to your shoulder blade.

There are debates as to whether the body fat result is accurate, however in my opinion if the result changes then it will indicate a change in body composition, which is the main thing.

Tracking your progress

Measuring Tape -

Tracking your results using a tape measure involves taking as many measurements as you can from round your body. This normally involves waist, arms, thighs and chest, but the more measurements you take can give you a better overall picture of your body, and more results that you can improve on!

This is an easy way to implement into tracking your goals, Tape is not expensive and measuring every 6 weeks is a great way to see how you are progressing.

I have a blog post coming on tracking progress. This week I will quickly be going through some of the pros and cons of four of the most common ways to see how you are doing before the blog is posted.

Weighing yourself -

A frequent part of many trips to the gym will be standing on the scales at the beginning or the end of your session and reading the number.

There are many great aspects to using scales to track your progress, but its not without its drawbacks. Weighing yourself in conjunction with other methods will give the complete picture of your progression.

Hi Everyone!!

My first blog on goal setting is now LIVE!!

https://rollomonkfitnesscoach.wordpress.com/2019/02/05/goals-how-to-set-them/

Basic Overview:

Focus on a main goal – Try to narrow it down to specifically what you want to achieve.

Track – Have a method of tracking your goals so that you can make sure you are working towards them.

Don’t over commit – Be honest with what you can stick to. If you haven’t been to the gym before, will you be able to fit it in everyday? Start with going 2-3 times per week and build it up from there.

Give yourself time – Goals can vary in the amount of time it will take to achieve them. Make sure that you have realistic expectations for how long your goal will take.

Tell someone your goals – It may sound weird, but if you tell a friend, relative or even a work colleague, and keep talking to them about how you are achieving it, you will be more likely to succeed.
