It is with great sadness that Shortwood have learned of the passing of club stalwart and friend Jason Scrivens this morning after a battle with cancer. Jason was loved by all that knew him and will leave a huge hole in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Jason was part of the Wood family and stepped in as manager at a moment’s notice when the club needed him in 2018. He then stepped up to become director of football and then served on the committee up to the present time.
Jason was blessed with a tremendous sense of humour and even through his battle with illness always had a kind word and offered help to all that needed it.
Shortwood send our love and sincere condolences to his wife Kate, his family and everyone who knew him.

A message from Pete Beadle

When I was brought in, in early October, I didn't know much about the club. I knew the chairman and a couple of the players.

What I expected it to be, it was nothing like that. Jamie and I had a group of players that wanted to learn, experience the highs and lows of football, and we took them to the highs and lows of football. The disappointment of the Street game abandoned, we were 1-0 up, 75th minute, and it got abandoned. Then we went their next weekend and won on penalties.

They all got on together as mates.
The games and training they were bickering with one another. We had to put a stop to that.

In the last couple of months, they've played as a team, worked hard for one another, and played some really good football.

In the 15 games in 35 days, we won 8, lost 4, and drew 3.
We finished 12th in the league, and won a Cup.

I'd like to congratulate every player, whatever they're impact was. If you only played a few games or you've played lots of games. Congratulations to the players.

Today we hosted an under 9’s tournament… and what a success it was! Beautiful weather, quality football, bar and BBQ! 🍗 🌞🍻 Thanks to all the teams who entered and congratulations to Leonard Stanley U9s on a fine performance and winning the William Reay Trophy! 🏆 I think today’s success sets us up for a busy bank holiday weekend next year! 🫣 Massive thanks to everyone who helped us put on such a successful, fantastic day! 💪🏾
