Happy New Year. Start A New Season of Focus — For Adult Beginners
🥋 A Fresh Start Without Pressure

Karate offers structure and purpose without the intensity or ego. You start where you are, progress at your own pace, and build steadily.

💼 Balance for Busy Lives

After long workdays and packed weeks, training provides a clear mental reset — focused time that’s just for you.

🧠 Calm, Confidence, and Control

Karate helps reduce stress, improve concentration, and rebuild confidence — not through aggression, but through discipline and consistency.

💪 Practical Strength and Mobility

Improve balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength in ways that support everyday life — joints, posture, and long-term health included.

👥 A Welcoming Local Club

Train alongside people of all ages and backgrounds in a respectful, supportive environment. No shouting, no intimidation, no cliques.

🌱 Progress That Feels Real

Clear goals, achievable milestones, and visible improvement. Progress you can feel in your body and notice in daily life.

You don’t need to be fit.
You don’t need experience.
You don’t need to be young.

Just turn up. We’ll take it from there.

2026 A New Season of Focus, For You and Your Child
🥋 Structure That Helps Children Thrive.

Karate provides children with clear boundaries, a routine, and positive role models, something many parents are actively seeking in a busy, distracting world.

📵 Time Away from Screens

Training offers focused, active time away from phones, tablets, and gaming, helping children switch off, move, and engage with others face-to-face.

🧠 Confidence Without Aggression

Children learn self-control, respect, and confidence in a calm, structured environment. Karate is about discipline and focus, not fighting.

💪 Healthy Movement, Real Fitness

Classes build coordination, balance, strength, and flexibility in a safe, age-appropriate way, ideal for growing bodies.

👨‍👩‍👧 A Supportive Local Club

We’re a local community club, not a franchise. Children train alongside others from local schools in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

🌱 Progress Parents Can See

Clear goals, visible improvement, and earned achievements help children build pride, patience, and resilience, qualities that carry into school and home life.

Join the Jewel Karate Club and learn Wado Kai Karate Do in Musselburgh and Haddington. Beginner to advanced classes available for all ages!

Some interesting karate stuff on here.

The image displays six different styles of karate, each with a distinctive logo and name. These are some of the most well-known and widely practiced styles of karate.
Shotokan
Founded by Gichin Funakoshi, Shotokan is one of the most widely practiced styles globally. It is known for its deep, strong stances and powerful, linear techniques. The training is typically divided into three parts: kihon (basics), kata (forms), and kumite (sparring).
Kyokushin
This is a full-contact style of karate founded by Masutatsu Oyama. It is known for its rigorous physical conditioning, discipline, and emphasis on realistic sparring. Kyokushin training prohibits strikes to the head with the hands but allows kicks to the head.
Sh*to-ryu
Founded by Kenwa Mabuni, Sh*to-ryu is a blend of the Okinawan Shuri-te and Naha-te schools of karate. It is known for its large number of kata and its focus on both hard and soft techniques, as well as speed and economy of movement.
Wado-ryu
Hironori Ōtsuka founded this style by combining his knowledge of Shindō Yōshin-ryū jujutsu with Okinawan karate. The name "Wado-ryu" means "the school of the way of harmony," and the style emphasizes tai sabaki (body management) and evasion rather than meeting force with force.
Shorin-ryu
Shorin-ryu is one of the major Okinawan martial arts, founded by Chōshin Chibana. It is characterized by natural breathing, higher stances, and circular movements, with a focus on fluid and quick motion. Shorin-ryu is considered an ancestor of other styles, such as Shotokan.
Goju-ryu
Meaning "hard-soft style," Goju-ryu was founded by Chōjun Miyagi. The style combines powerful, hard techniques with softer, circular movements. It emphasizes close-range combat, body conditioning, and specific breathing techniques.
