You become who you’re around.
Not immediately. Not obviously. But slowly, quietly, the people closest to you shape how you think, how you speak, how high you’re willing to aim.
Choose carefully.
There’s a version of the success story that gets told a lot. The lone wolf. The self-made person. The one who grinded it out alone and willed it into existence through sheer force.
I don’t buy it.
Because behind every person who’s doing something real, there’s someone who believed in them first. A mentor. A friend. A person who said you can when the voice in their own head was saying you can’t.
We don’t grow in isolation. We grow in rooms. In conversations. In the honesty of people who care enough to tell us the truth and push us anyway.
And here’s what I know for certain, when the people around you are winning, you win too. Not in competition. In energy. In belief. In what starts to feel possible when you watch someone close to you do the thing they said they would.
Surround yourself with people who are going somewhere. Who lift the room. Who want to see you get there as much as you want it for yourself.
Be that person for others too. Because what’s for you won’t go by you.
That opportunity that slipped away, maybe it wasn’t yours. Maybe it was just clearing space for something better, something more aligned, something you couldn’t see yet because you were too busy grieving the door that closed.
Trust it.
And when you’re low, and you will be, lean on your people. Let them hold it for a minute. That’s not weakness. That’s why you built the circle in the first place.
We rise together or we don’t rise at all. 💙
