Motherwell Cricket Club - 150 Years

Motherwell Cricket Club - 150 Years Motherwell Cricket Club was formed in 1873 and, next year, we’ll be celebrating our 150th anniversary of uninterrupted cricket in the Lanarkshire town.

Many will remember the team playing at Home Park in what was originally The Duke of Hamilton’s estate. These days, we play our cricket at Dalziel Park. To commemorate the anniversary, we’ll be compiling a book to remember some of the great games and characters who have played for Motherwell, and recalling some memorable incidents down the years. So, if you have played for Motherwell or have memori

es of the cricket club, we’d love to hear your story. Maybe you have an old photo of someone in the family who had a connection with the club. Whatever your contribution, please share it with us. Thank you.

Motherwell Trinity Cricket Club (they dropped the Trinity shortly after) went on their first tour to Yorkshire, and here’s the touring party. They lost narrowly to Kings Cross and the Farsley game was washed out, but I’m sure they had a great trip.

Amazingly, the year was 1890 !?! as reported in The Motherwell Times of July that year.
