Active Northumberland is a charitable trust that manages leisure facilities and services, libraries and cultural services on behalf of Northumberland County Council. Active Northumberland manage leisure centres and swimming pools throughout the county, as well as some more specialist sites such as the Beach Huts at Blyth, the Tyne Riverside Country Park building in Prudhoe and the Pegasus Riding C

entre near Morpeth. Leisure facilities at several school sites in Blyth, Cramlington and Prudhoe are also managed for community use. Active Northumberland encourages and offers assistance to local communities in Northumberland to develop and manage their own activities and clubs, and also provides sports coaching and activities in areas where access to services is more difficult. Active Northumberland works in partnership with Northumberland County Council. It has a board of trustees made up of local representatives from across the county who are committed to ensuring that communities in Northumberland are given every opportunity to access facilities, activities and services that contribute towards healthy and active lifestyles.

As we approach the final days of operating as Active Northumberland, 💙 we would like to say it has been an absolute privilege managing all of the county's main leisure centres over the last 9 years. 😊

We have achieved so many milestones;

⭐ Record fitness memberships
⭐ Expansion of our swim lesson memberships
⭐ Achieved 'Excellent' Quest assessment ratings at 3 of our centres - the UK's quality scheme for sport and leisure
⭐ Delivered a brand new website and an industry leading App
⭐ Delivery of 3-brand new state-of-the-art leisure centres in Ponteland, Berwick and Morpeth
⭐ Major renovation projects at Wentworth Leisure Centre, Blyth Sports Centre, Concordia Leisure Centre and Newbiggin Sports & Community Hub
⭐ Became a National Living Wage employer
⭐ Introduced a colleague recognition programme with our own Active Hearts
⭐ Launched Elevate, our personalised customer fitness programme
⭐ Investment in our soft play centres, Hive Cafe's and Hive Bowling

and so much more...

All of these achievements could not have been delivered without the support of our incredible customers and the passion and dedication of our amazing colleagues.

Our Learn to Swim 🏊 programme is not just about swimming lessons; it's also about instilling a sense of resilience and safety awareness in our young participants whilst they enjoy the water 💦

Swimming 🏊 lessons during Water Safety Week are specifically designed to allow children to earn their Water Safety Awards, crucial recognition of their awareness and adaptability around water 💦
