Throw back to the 2018 NABBA Mr Universe. It was my most successful year of competing. I started my prep for this show the start of January and competed in the universe that November

My goal was to win the NABBA north east Britain and the Mr Britain and qualify and finish top 3 in the mr universe. I ended up winning as a junior bodybuilder; the NABBA north east Britain, the Mr Britain, the Mr United Kingdom.

I also competed for Britain in the nabba worlds and came top 3 and in November 2018 I accomplished my goal and won the nabba Mr Universe.I won all these shows in one year, coaching myself, doing my own diet and following my own training plan.

Before this, as I mentioned in a previous post, it took me almost a decade of bodybuilding before I accomplished anything significant. Getting in shape for a bodybuilding contest is much more of a challenge than just achieving a body transformation.

It takes hours in and outside of the gym, sickening discipline and lots of sacrifice; time, your health and more. I appreciate bodybuilding for what it is. The pursuit of your best physique. To craft yourself in aims of achieving size, symmetry, proportions and conditioning. Building the body how you want to look.

I learnt a lot from competing and training as a bodybuilder. I’m in a privileged position that I can take a lot of what I learnt from achieving my own transformations and use the knowledge to, help my clients with their goals.

Now you don’t need to train like a bodybuilder to achieve a body transformation. You don’t need to eat 6 meals a day, do 2-3 hours of training a day, to achieve a body transformation.

What I believe you need is, a goal preferably with a deadline. Better eating habits, or a diet you can realistically stick too and a weekly exercise routine you enjoy and can follow.

But the most important thing in achieving a body transformation or any high end goal is the right mindset; discipline, consistency, willingness to keep working towards your goal. That’s it.

A bonus would be a coach to hold yourself accountable too and provide knowledge and value. To save you time trying to everything yourself. Even coaches have coaches. Myself included.

But it was the right mindset that kept me pushing through every workout, every meal, year after year as a bodybuilder. I wanted to win the mr universe since I was 14. It wasn’t a novelty or an impulsive urge. I saw it as destiny. This is what I’m going to do and I did.

Now I want to be a successful businessman, a great personal trainer, online coach as well as a great martial artist. I will accomplish this. I’m no where near where I want to be, but I will get there.

I’m after new clients that want to achieve their own incredible body transformation. Those who want to become the strongest version on themselves and that share this same driven mindset.

If you believe to be one of these individuals that wants to transform themselves; contact or email [email protected]

Tips for training back.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
In my experience working with clients, I’d say back training seems to be one of the most difficult to ‘feel’ and work in specific areas. ⁣
⁣⁣
So here are a few tips and approaches you can use the next time you train back and hopefully this should fix a few problems or issues you’ve had when training back for Hypertrophy.⁣
⁣⁣
1. Know the basic anatomy of your back. Having an understanding of what certain back muscles look like, and how it should move will make all the difference training it. I’ve noticed plenty of guys have no problem training chest (pecs) because they can see and feel it contacting and working. It’s not just the ‘back’ if we was doing a lat pull down we are primarily working the lats and secondary muscles like the rear delts, traps and biceps are also involved. But being aware of what the lats are and how they should feel will help you greatly with back training. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2. Note the position of your shoulders elbows and spine (improve form) for certain areas of the back you need to pull from different angles, you also need to be aware of what you’re pulling with. If I wanted to work the lats in most cases I want to keep my shoulders locked down and end the pull with my elbows tight towards my rib cage. For my upper back my shoulder blades may retract more and my elbows maybe further away from my sides. It all depends on what you’re trying to work. Study good form with each back movement you select and see if you feel the right area working. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
3. Use back machines. I know some will say deadlifts & barbell rows are great ‘mass builders’ for the back and in fairness they are. They do work. But these compounds also require a certain amount of core strength and stability. If stability is lost before you’ve completed a set, you’ll never reach a certain intensity to stimulate back growth. So a machine with fixed support and stability will enable you to train hard to failure or close too, without having to worry about keeping your stability or remaining in a neutral position. You can truly maximise intensity and isolate the back. ⁣

An amazing day Saturday down at it’s been a year since the academy opened and I’m so happy to be a part of it.⁣

Massively thankful for my promotion and it was great to see the team get theirs also. This place has an incredible community and I’ve met so many amazing people and friends along the way. ⁣

I can’t thank my professor and coach enough for the incredible work they put into the place and the team and of course my development as a jujutsu practitioner. ⁣

I’ll leave what I said in the speech at the academy. But I must say I never anticipated what I’ve learnt ,who I’d meet and what this journey has meant to me so far. I do believe I’ve grown as a person I’ve been humbled plenty of times, gone through victory’s, losses, competed in 19 separate matches and counting and had so many great moments and memories. ⁣

I don’t wanna get too ahead of myself now, i’m not all that; I’m only a blue belt. 😅☺️I’ve still got plenty of work to do. But it’s been an experience so far. ⁣

Back to another week of training ⁣

An epic weekend for the team Huge performances at the English open and other jujitsu tournaments.

For myself, I ended up coming out with a bronze in the lightweight division having a total of 5 fights and 4 wins. An extremely competitive line up with some tough matches.

Fell short at my final match but I take responsibility for my mistakes and make no excuses. I’ll be back for more, hungry for gold 😁

I’m incredibly grateful for my team. I’m incredibly thankful for my professor being in my corner each fight providing the knowledge, instructions and support I needed to get the wins.

A massive thank you to all the comp team it was great to support all you guys and girls and to see a large majority medal and get your arms raised in victory.

A final thank you to at for helping me managing a couple of injuries going into the fights. It was a stressful week, with a stressful weight cut but I got there, made weight and the injuries didn’t stop me from getting in the top 3.

Top 3 lightweight in English open as a whitebelt, I’ll take it. I ain’t done yet. I’ll be back in the gym ASAP, primed and focused ready for the next match.

I got 3 weeks out until my ultra MMA fight. Time to go back to work. Can’t stop, won’t stop. I ain’t done yet.

With so much information out there on training and nutrition it’s very easy to feel a bit overwhelmed if you’re a beginner aiming for a body transformation. ⁣

What training split should you do? ⁣
How many days should you train? ⁣
How many sets and reps? ⁣
What diet should you follow? ⁣
How many calories should you eat? ⁣
What macros should you follow? ⁣

The questions you might ask yourself can be endless. So here’s a few things I suggest, so you can come to grips with all the information out there. ⁣

1. Establish your goals. You have to know what you want and what you’re aiming for. If you don’t have a reason why you’re going to train and diet, you won’t stick to it. ⁣

2. Stick to the basics, do what’s been tried and tested (factual) anything that is overcomplicated and you can’t understand, just don’t bother with if you’re just getting started. ⁣

3. Pick something and do it consistently. There’s nothing wrong with trial and error either. It’s good to experiment and find what works for you. But when you do start something, go all out and do it consistently for a set period of time to truly see the results. 4-12 weeks is just a suggestion. ⁣

4. Track progress. Just doing something and hoping for a result isn’t a great strategy. You may make progress, but it’s better to hold yourself accountable, track progress and edit and alter the plan when you hit plateaus ⁣

5. Hire a coach/professional. If you can’t fix a problem yourself, let your pride down and hire someone that can educate you and teach you what you need to know in order to achieve your goals. This is the best option in my opinion. 😉 Get an expert that can deliver results.
