Yesterday was a huge day for Prince Pompom the Perfect Pony - his first ever competition, and he headed off to Unicorn for some dressage. 🦄

There was A LOT to take in… new place, new horses, new people, lots of activity and, apparently, several things that were VERY suspicious indeed. 😂 He was a little worried to start with, but settled beautifully and tried his absolute heart out.

He picked up some really lovely marks and some fantastic comments from the judge. There is clearly a LOT to work with for the future, and we’re very excited to see what this little chap can become. 🧡

And as if Pompom’s first competition wasn’t enough excitement… it was also my first competition in many, many years.
(Possibly the era of Pateys and wool jackets)! So it was slightly a case of the blind leading the blind - or at least the partially sighted! IYKYK!!

The important things are: we both managed to go the right way (always a solid achievement 😂), we were both absolutely exhausted by the end, and — most importantly — we managed to get ourselves back in the truck just before the thunder and lightning started! ⛈️⚡️ Timing is everything…

A really positive first outing, lots learned, and a huge amount to look forward to. 🧡🐴 Thank you to Miranda Loffet for organising.

Busy weekend for Pompom, with two outings in two days to take on some new surroundings. We might have to fit in a third mini adventure before our competition debut! Pom has never been to a competition before, and I haven’t been since the dinosaurs walked the earth so it may be quite exciting! We are working hard to achieve a happy outing without too many freestyle movements

Talented young horse with fantastic temperament

Pom has had an easy few weeks. He had a treatment from Leigh Firmin and a few days hacking, after which he decided to get himself wedged upside down and ensure that Leigh had to come back and treat him again. I think he loves her, but not sure that Leigh would agree! Another easy few days before an absolutely exhausting 20 minutes of schooling, which required a serious nap to recuperate!

Dude and Tiger, the two four year olds, are enjoying being back in work and Tanglewood Farm Stables are doing their usual fabulous job. They have both been out to their first arena hire and behaved beautifully. Looking forward to getting them out and about
