"Your children can only achieve things that they can see."

As parents, we often tell our children to be active, to work hard, to take care of themselves, to be confident and resilient.

But they're always watching what we do.

If they see us prioritising our health, moving our bodies, challenging ourselves, and showing up consistently even when we don't feel like it, those behaviours become normal to them.

The goal isn't to be a perfect role model.

It's to show them what's possible.

Because the habits, standards and beliefs they grow up around often become the ones they carry into adulthood.

Your fitness journey isn't just about you.

I've spoken to hundreds of parents over the years, and the one thing they tell me about getting healthier, stronger, and fitter is this:

"It's not that I don't want it... I just don't have the time."

Between work, school runs, family commitments, and trying to keep everything moving, finding time for yourself can feel impossible.

But here's what I've learned...

The parents who succeed aren't the ones with the most free time. They're the ones who stop waiting for the perfect time!

They start with what they have.

20 minutes before the children wake up...
A quick workout during nap time...
A walk, a bike ride, or an active afternoon with the family.

Being fit isn't about spending hours in the gym. It's about having the energy to keep up with moments like these, the strength to be present, and the health to enjoy them for years to come.

Your fitness doesn't take you away from your family.

Done right, it helps you show up better for them.

Most parents tell themselves they'll get fit when life calms down.

When work is less stressful.
When the children are older.
When there's more time.

But here's the reality...

Life doesn't calm down.

The parents who get fitter, stronger and healthier aren't the ones with more free time.

They're the ones who stop waiting and start working with the life they already have.

This bike ride wasn't possible because I found some magical work/life balance.

It's possible because years ago I decided to stop putting my health at the bottom of the list.

Now I have the energy to keep up.
The fitness to enjoy it.
And the confidence that my body can handle whatever life throws at me.

Would you rather sit looking at your phone or be able to get involved with them?
Able to keep up whilst running around outside...
Strong enough to throw them over your shoulder when they get tired...
Healthy enough to stay present in their lives!

Trust me, they notice!

Even at 9 & 11, they want me involved in their play.

And if it matters to them...

Half term doesn’t have to mean less movement...
It can actually be the perfect chance to move more together.

The best memories with our children are rarely made sitting on the sofa.
They’re made climbing, running, laughing, swinging from monkey bars and being present in the moment.

Your children don’t care how fit you are.
They care that you join in.

One of the biggest reasons I encourage parents to get stronger and healthier isn’t just for aesthetics...
It’s so you can keep up with your children, play without getting exhausted, and create experiences together that they’ll remember for years.

Being active as a family builds more than fitness:
- Confidence
- Connection
- Healthy habits
- Quality time
