Ok.

As you know we are reaching the coldest part of the year. It is important that everyone is aware about just how cold its going to get.

Average life expectancy if someone is in the water (with a wetsuit) in winter is only about 1 1/2 hours.

It is important we look out for eachother like everyone did for Jonny on Saturday and keep everyone safe.

Please avoid going out alone!!!

Even if it means losing kites or boards!

People are advised to wear.
5mm wetsuit (minimum)
Boots
Gloves
And a gimp mask!!! Jonny with his ball gag!

Windproof jackets also extend session times ad the reduce wind chill. Rash vests also help alot to keep warm (and are relatively cheap).

If your not up and riding it is advised you stick away from the water as the majority of your time will be spent in it. Alternatively ride the tide in, on lower tides, so you always have an escape route.

Any advice on good equipment or if your unsure how to snap a line or wrap a kite round a post in the middle of a big bay ask me or Jonny!

Any advise on kit just post, and there will be a variety of options.

Good news for summer!!!!

To All members /none members

Notice has been given by council that (ACCESS) to kitesurfing beach will be closed BOTH RAMPS to north side of breakwater !

This is due to mussel picking that will start very soon and close the end of battery carpark which means access will be from ramp near carpark entrance on prom then down beach been asked not to access over rocks!

At higher tide we will be able to take kite off usual way as long as pickers are not on carpark
Please watch out for quad bikes on beach at low tide they will be using south access ramp .

Barriers will be going up in next few days so please be aware ..access is only closed when they are working!!
