Pre match Fleetwood
We’re finally back in action, after a long international break. The last we saw of the shrimps was the 2-0 loss to Carlisle in the Papa John’s Trophy, the less said about this game the better! But we move, move on to this week’s fixture.
This week we take on 22nd place in the league one table, Fleetwood. The Cods haven’t had the best of times in the league recently, as they haven’t seen a win home or away since the 16th October, just under a month when I’m writing this, to Crewe Alexandra at home where they won by a solid 3-0 margin. Grayson’s reds will be looking for a win during this fixture, so we must try to put in all of our efforts to try and get a solid 3 points here.
A win may take us up and out of the near relegation zone, because the league at this time is all so close between places and wins and losses all over the day means teams fluctuate up and down the table at quite a rapid rate, so I hope we can capitalise from this and get 3 points going into Saturday!
Looking at our potential squads, we now have a few more of our lads back, mainly Aaron Wildig. The Morecambe legend is now fit and ready for action. After his goal against Newport County, I’ll be glad to have him. We also have more options for subs in Harrison and Duffus. Our trip to the Highbury should be a good one, if we go off of the momentum set up from the win against Newport. Sadly it’s the only away fixture of the month so we’d best enjoy it, I’ve been enjoying the away games so far this year and so am looking forward to the game away.
During this international break I attended the Mbulu charity match at the Trimpell, Organised by Shrimps fans Nicky Clark and David Fraser. A group of Shrimps fans took on a group of Motherwell fans. The result unfortunately did not go our way, as we lost 6-3 to the visitors. On the plus side this game brought great attention to the Christian Mbulu Foundation Charity and helped to raise a substantial amount of money for the charity. I’m hoping we can retrieve the trophy in the future with a potential 2nd match.
So see you all Saturday and let’s hope that we can show Fleetwood what were made of!
Up the Shrimps,
Hopey.
