HOW TO BREAK A SOUTH PAW FIGHTER
THE BLUEPRINT TO NEUTRALIZE THE LEFTY ADVANTAGE.
WHY IT MATTERS
Southpaws throw off rhythm.
Their stance flips your instincts - your jab collides with theirs, and your power hand faces their lead.
Most orthodox fighters freeze here.
But once you learn the geometry... you control the fight.
THE ANGLE PRINCIPLE
L Never stand in front of a southpaw's power hand.
Slide outside their lead foot (to your left).
That angle takes you off their line and opens up yours.
It's not just footwork - it's positioning for dominance.
FOOT POSITION = CONTROL
Your front foot should always be outside theirs.
That single detail changes everything:
/ It closes their left hand.
It opens your right cross.
/ It forces them to reset or pivot away.
This is geometry disguised as violence.
THE JAB DIRECTION HACK
Don't jab straight down the middle.
Aim slightly to their chest or shoulder line to disrupt timing. Your jab is your rangefinder, shield, and trap - not just offense.
Pro tip: Double jab before pivoting left. It freezes their lead hand.
THE RIGHT HAND BLUEPRINT
The right hand is your southpaw eraser.
But only when launched from the outside angle.
When you pivot left and fire your right hand, their lead arm becomes useless.
THE PIVOT GAME
»Every exchange ends with a pivot
Don't admire your work - rotate out, reset, re-angle.
Your goal: Stay one step ahead of their lead foot.
Footwork beats stance 10 out of 10 times.
DEFENSIVE ADAPTATION
Southpaws love the backhand straight.
When you see the shoulder twitch, step left (outside), slip right, and counter to the body.
Take away their rhythm
- make them reach.
COMMON MISTAKES
•Circling into their power side.
•Standing too square.
•Throwing predictable lead rights.
•Neglecting head movement after jabs.
Every mistake above feeds their left hand.
Control the angle, control the fight.
