Said it before and I'll say it again, ripped hands are not a good thing, nor are they a badge of honour.
Simply put they are a sign of poor technique.
Seeing photos of lifters after 30' half marathon sets at the IKMF World Championships with bleeding hands is a sign that they need to work on technique. If your hands are bleeding you're catching too soon/gripping too tight during the drop phase.
One of the first things I assess when coaching new lifters is if they suffer from ripped hands. If so, then the number one priority is fixing that as they can't maintain a consistent training schedule if they are constantly ripping their hands and unable to train until they heal.
When I started working with David, Gayle and Kevin last year we focused on good technique and it paid off 2 days ago at the World Championships. One gold medal, a bronze, a 5th place, 2 Masters of Sport and a Candidate for Master of Sport and best of all... 3 beautiful rip free sets of hands 👌
