Another good evening at the Hopey with the Quaich final between Kirsty Ritchie, (Ladies Green Champion), and John Dempsey, (Gents Green Champion). The usual gathering of members and friends came along to give good support to both players.
The ends were shared fairly equally early on, and both players gave a good account of themselves, playing some excellent bowls. Eventually, the more experienced player, older by over fifty years, gained the upper hand, taking control of the second half of the match and running out the 21-11 winner.
Looks like we will have to begin around 5.30pm as the light conditions have changed so much that we were in danger of not finishing the match.
Thanks once again to club President Ian Currie for marking the match.

The last Final is the Andy Melrose, which will be held next week. Date to be announced soon…

Busy couple of weeks at the Hopey and round about…

Jim Paterson’s triple, with team mates Dennis Baillie and Ian Currie, did the double at Drumlithie Bowling Club in the last month winning both their Open Seniors Triples (August), and their Open Triples on Sunday 6th September. Well done. Great result doing the double. No pressure for next season.

Great night at Ladies Green Championship Final…
Our new champion is Kirsty Ritchie, our youngest ever Ladies’ Champion, who defeated Sally Morgan in a very entertaining final, watched by just over thirty members and friends. Well done both players, and all those who came to support them.

Congratulations to Glenda and Gordon Paton on winning the Open Mixed Pairs at the Hopey on Sunday 17th August!
A great final, won on the last bowl to give a 5-4 victory to the two GPs… thanks to Emily and Sandy in making it a great final.
