Academy Sports Day 🏆

Exciting news across the local schools with some impressive performances from our athleties. Podium finishes all round including Cushla and Cameron as overall champions!

Incredible mention to Cameron who has shattered the existing school Javelin record by 8+ metres with a performance of 40.43m. Outstanding commitment this season with almost 10 metres improvement from last year with the adjusted javelin specs. No doubt he will make this PB official before the end of the season.

Another mention to Cushla who not only was her age groups champion but also placed first in all events. Her massive high jump of 1.47m only 1cm off the school record, which we have no doubt she'll break next time!

Well done to Cameron, Cushla, Merrin, Harriett, Tillie, Zoe and all our athletes competing in their sports days. If we have left anyone out please get in touch!

Schools Athletics Meet - congratulations to Cammy for his fantastic sprint finish, representing his school with a first place medal! All that's left is to repeat this PB performance to make it official, no doubt there will be more PBs to come for Cammy 🎖

⚠️ We are looking for volunteers to support Montrose & District Athletics Club. Any time would be appreciated with the potential of even working towards a coaching qualification!

We meet Monday and Thursday evenings at Montrose Sports Centre from 6 - 8.30pm. We take kids from age 8+ and give them opportunities across run/jump/throw events.

Our club is now booming with athletes, outstanding performances and broken records. We would love to accept more from our waiting list with your help!!!

Club is very successful for our size, even holding its own against the bigger cities. Our younger athletes are previous RAM league champions and have made the SuperTeams final

So if you know of anyone who could be our next budding athletic coach or general helper.

Youth Development League - Dundee

Amazing performances continue this weekend at the Youth Development League where Lauren, Elodee, Orrin and Áine represented across many events to score some fantastics PBs!

We have always been lucky to form a composite team with Perth Strathtay Harriers, where our athletes can build their confidence, teamworking and meet friends for life. Well done to PSH and MDAC for continuing our collaboration at YDL

Special mention to Lauren and Orrin for teaming up for the 4x100m relay, not forgetting Elodee who stormed the 4x300m race for the first time. Aine worked hard to continue a fantastic summer of run, jump and throw perfomances on the same day!

RAM League - Aberdeen

The outdoor season continues to shine for our athletes, well done to Adriel, Jack, Cameron, Alfie, Lauren, Aine, Elodee, Matthew, Lucy and Emma. You can even spot our coaches Emma and John coaching/ officiating in these shots!

As always very strong representation across track and field, with a highlight to the high jump and javelin. Alfie and Jack topped the Javelin with two first places, as well as Elodee and Aine in the high jump. Special mention to Aine for stepping in last minute to support the team and even securing a 10cm personal best!!! Awaiting confirmation that Alfie has broken the RAM record for the Javelin with a throw of 21.55m, will keep you updated!

Scottish National Athletics League

Last weekend our athletes represented in a new league for tne club, the SNAL competitions are for U18, U20 and Senior level athletes. Fantastic opening performances from Zoe, Susie, Lucy, Cameron, Matthew and Emma. Great opportunity to give more competitive opportunities in rarer events such as pole vault and hurdles.

Special mention to Cameron who debuted his Javelin this year with a whopping almost 40 meter throw, after running a 200m against senior level athletes. Also to Matthew who PBd in his 100m despite being the only event of the day to be rained through. Lastly to Emma to earned a place in the finals for all three of her events.

With a growing U18 women's team we are sure to score more points as the season continues, no better time to give athletics a try.

RAM League - Aberdeen

MDAC starts the outdoors season with a growing team and fantastic PBs. Well done to Cammy, Cameron, Jack, Alfie, Elodee, Merrington, Cushla, Lucy, Zoe, Susie, Aine, Fraser, Matthew and Emma!

Special mention to our U12 boys who continue their league highs with a top performance in both the A and B String shotputt. As well as a strong showing of sprints representation across the U14-U18 age groups, our senior athletes just keep improving and are great role models for our newer athletes.

Our athletes braved the rain, wind and hail to still get PBs over all sprint, endurance, jumps and throws events. Very proud to see hard work paying off and fantastic results for those competing for the first time

Run Balmoral 🏰🏃‍♂️

After another year of MDAC representation in Balmotal we are excited to share how well Cammy, Cameron, Fraser, Matthew and John. With John wearing the many hats of coach, parent and athlete!

A special mention to Cammy who came 5th place in a whopping field of 650 athletes in the 1.5k age category. A massive achievement!

Spring OGM, ParkRun and Sprint Open

A fantastic opening to the outdoor season with a large representation of MDAC athletes! Not forgetting the Montrose Parkrun which has consistently led to PBs throughout the winter, special mention to Logan for another brilliant sub 20 minute run and a shiny new PB too. Also proud to hear from Hamish who was invited to sprint with some of the fastest at grangemouth last weekend.

Aberdeen celebrated their spring OGM which served as a great warm up for Matthew, Fraser, Jack and Cameron. A great introduction to the 110 metre hurdles, 150m sprint as well as the return to outdoors shotputt and long jump. With each of our athletes returning for next weeks RAM League we couldn't be more excited
