Congratulations to Rhys Low, Drew Taylor, Aaron Kidd, Nathan Rodrigues, Finlay Simpson and Zack Wilson who in the past couple of weeks have signed for Montrose FC Academy and played their first league game winning 2-1. Well done lads, we are extremely proud of all of you. All the hard work is paying off and we look forward to seeing you progress as footballers and young men. ❤️💙

As most of you may be aware, we have had to make the very tough decision of folding Monifieth Athletic 2009s. This is due to alot of the players spending the summer with pro youth academy's on trial giving us a short time to recruit nearly a whole squad to start the new season. Winning 7 trophies in 2 seasons and going unbeaten in the league shows why there was so much interest in these boys.

Over the last few years the boys have been on an incredible journey, individually and as team. Collectively together they have won numerous trophies, attended two European tournaments and competed well against the best pro youth teams in the region. Through all this, they have made memories and friendships for life, they have built an incredible bond with each other and became a family. We are delighted and proud as coaches, that many of them will take their first step into academy football with others going onto play with top grassroots sides in the region. We cannot wait to watch all of them flourish in their new environments.

Good luck to all the lads. Wherever you end up, we are sure you will all be great additions to your new teams. It has been an amazing experience for us coaches to coach such an amazing bunch of lads and also a massive thank you to the parents for all your support over the years.

On Saturday the lads, parents and coaches got together at Mains Castle for the end of the season presentation night. A great night had by all celebrating another very successful season.
The individual awards went to,

Parents POTY - Aaron Kidd
Most improved - Nathan Rodrigues

Well done to all the lads on another brilliant season. A massive thanks to the parents for helping set up a great night and also for being a brilliant support throughout the season.

198 goals in all competitions. Unbeaten in the league and 3 trophies for the boys. Just some of the stats for the 2023/24 season and even more memories made. Another brilliant year from the lads. Thanks to all the players, parents, family and sponsors for making it such a brilliant year ❤️💙

🔴🔵 𝐆 𝐓𝐀𝐘𝐋𝐎𝐑 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐓 🔵🔴

A fantastic season came to an end today as the lads travelled to Aberfeldy to take on Breadalbane in the last league game of the season. Showing great professionalism and respect for the boys, the players and coaches of Breadalbane welcomed the boys on to the pitch with a guard of honour. Thanks for that guys. It was really appreciated. 🤝🏻

The boys got off to a great start. Just 8 minutes in, Alfie played a through ball to Drew who skillfully took the ball round the keeper and placed it into the net. 1-0

Just 4 minutes later and we had another one. Another assist from Alfie as he took on a couple of the oppositions players and fired a great diagonal ball over the defenders head to meet Drew again to smash the ball home. 2-0

Playing some nice football on a great surface the lads were creating chance after chance. 23 minutes in and Moni won a corner. Alfie played over a brilliant inswinging corner to meet the head of Nathan who bullets the ball past the keeper. 3-0.

The boys seemed to take the foot off the gas for the rest of the first half but the challenge today was to keep a clean sheet and go the league campaign undefeated and that's the way we went in at half time. A quick chat in the changing room and the boys were ready to go again.

Just 3 minutes in to the second half and Drew Taylor got his hat trick! A neat pass from Nathan for Drew to collect on the edge of the box with a quick turn and placing the ball into the bottom left corner. 4-0

67 minutes in now and a poor pass back was pounced on by Charlie winning a 1 on 1 with the keeper and placing the ball in the back of the net. 5-0 and that's the way the game would finish.

Today's man of the match could only go to one boy. The hat trick hero Drew Taylor. Another fantastic game. Always giving 100% and banging in the goals as usual. Well done Drew and the rest of the boys today.👏🏼

Again we'd like to say how unbelievably proud we are of these boys. The effort, desire, the respect they show the coaches and the love for the game is a pleasure to watch. To win the treble and go undefeated in the league is an amazing achievement and something they should be proud of. Well done lads. You are a great bunch of lads ❤️💙

🔴🏆 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐁𝐋𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐌𝐏𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 🏆🔵

Last night the lads took on DUSC in the East Region Cup Final and as promised it was a brilliant game of football played by both sides.

Perfect weather for a cup final and a pitch worthy of hosting the top 2 teams in the region, the boys kicked off full of positivity. Straight from the kick off the lads were right up for it. Playing some brilliant football and setting the pace for the game.

Just 10 minutes in and the boys were ahead. A Nathan corner swung in dangerously into the 6 yard box with the DUSC defender clearing the ball, only to meet Zack on the edge of the box. Showing great composure with the ball bouncing awkwardly in front of him, taking the ball on the half volley, he smashed it into the top right corner with the keeper unlucky getting finger tips to the ball. 1-0

The boys were playing some brilliant football now. Knocking the ball about and making the opposition work hard. DUSC weren't going to give up that easily and created a few chances of their own but the defence were on great form and Rhys was there to collect everything that came his way keeping it 1-0 at half time.

The second half now and DUSC came out looking alot more positive trying to get the game back under control. A great bit of football from the midfielders to play the ball through to their striker who was baring down on Rhys for a 1 on 1. Rhys bravely threw himself towards the striker saving the ball with his leg to keep Moni ahead.

In the 66th minute Monifieth won another corner. Again, Nathan puts over a fantastic ball which met Aaron's head at the back post. Aaron smashing the ball down low into the bottom corner giving the boys a 2-0 lead, setting them up for victory.

A long 14 minutes to the final whistle for the parents and coaches, praying for the referee to blow the whistle and when he blew the boys were in party mode. Queue the Monifieth rendition of Adele 😅. A well deserved result showing brilliant teamwork throughout the game.

Coaches man of the match goes to the man between the sticks, Rhys Low. A solid performance collecting anything that came in his area, some fantastic distribution and even taking a sore rib for the team.

The referees man of the match presented by the DDYFA officials goes to The Hound Zack Wilson. Scoring a fantastic first half goal and then playing the rest of the game with a sore leg ( caused by his celebration 😅 ) and as always hounding the opposition, creating chances and always fighting for the ball back.

Well done lads. What a season it has been.
Treble winners and still unbeaten in the league.

Commiserations to DUSC but a massive congratulations on a great season you guys have had. The games we have played have certainly been entertaining in all the right ways. All the best for next season. 🔴🔵🤝🏻🟠⚫️

With the lads winning 2-0 tonight in Tayport against DUSC in the East Region Final they were crowned champions for a second year in a row meaning they are treble champions. Unbelievable effort from the lads once again. More to follow tomorrow. We are off to celebrate 🥳...commiserations to DUSC. A bunch of top lads and coaches and a fantastic team 🤝🏻

This Thursday, the lads head across the bridge to Tayport to take on DUSC in the final of the East Region Cup. With both teams on great form this is going to be a memorable cup final! In the games we have met so far this season, Monifieth have won the first league match with DUSC winning the next in the league cup semi final and a draw in the last league meeting. This should be a very tight game. The boys had their final training session tonight in preparation for the game and it's safe to say they are right up for this! If you can, it would be amazing to see as many family and friends there to roar the boys on. Come on lads! 🔴🔵

Yesterday the lads travelled though to Scone hoping to keep their unbeaten run in the league going.

The boys came out firing and within 7 minutes they got their first goal with brilliant counter attacking football from the boys. Drew taking the ball from within his own half and playing the perfect ball through the Scone defence meeting Zack who notched the ball home.

Next up in the 17th minute a brilliant bit of team work from Ben playing the ball through to Nathan, sending him on a run down the line who crossed the ball into Drew to put the ball in the back of the net. 2-0

After a quick water break in the blistering sun the boys kept at it. Nathan picking up the ball on the edge of the centre circle, played an amazing diagonal pass across the top of the defence meeting Drew, who again notches home a neat finish past the keeper. 3-0

The chances kept on coming with the boys playing some excellent stuff. In the 28th minute now and Ben plays the ball through to Drew. Peeling away from the defender and smashing it into the bottom left corner! Hat trick for Taylor! 4-0

31 minutes in and again, Drew involved in this goal! Taking the ball down the line and crossing into the Hound Zack Wilson to smash the ball in the back of the net! 5-0 half time!

The second half now and the boys seemed to take the foot off the gas a bit. Credit to Scone though, they never gave up. Noticing the boys had settled a bit they upped their game. Creating a few chances and making our defenders and goalkeeper work a few times but nothing came of the chances.

71 minutes in and the only goal of the half came from Finn Murdoch taking advantage of the rebound off the keeper. 6-0!

Man of the match goes to Aaron Kidd. He never stopped working even when the boys seemed to take their foot off the gas. A composed and solid performance at the back as always. Well done Kiddo! Another shout out has to go to Drew Taylor today. An excellence first half performance getting involved in 5 of the goals. 👏🏼

🔴🏆 𝐆 𝐓𝐀𝐘𝐋𝐎𝐑 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐓 🏆🔵

The lads welcomed Athletico Blair to Riverview tonight in our last home game of the season. The weather conditions were horrible but it wasn't going to spoil the party for the boys receiving the league shield.

What a way to bow out in the final home game. Every boy on the team was fantastic tonight as they have been all season. 9 goals from 7 different boys just shows how good these boys play together and the bond they have.

Not my standard match report tonight. I won't go through all the goals. I'd rather say how incredibly proud the coaches are of every one of these boys and their achievements over the last couple of seasons. Memories to last a lifetime for them, the coaches and their families. 💙❤️

Tonight's man of the match goes to James Ross. Coming off the bench with half an hour to go. He put in a great shift in the middle of the park and scoring a superb goal. Well done James!

Well done team! Let's keep it going for the last 2 away games and the East Region Final! 💙❤️

🔴🔵𝐆 𝐓𝐀𝐘𝐋𝐎𝐑 𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐄 🔵🔴

With 3 games left in the league and an East Region Cup Final before the season ends, the boys welcome Athletico Blair to Riverview tomorrow. With the boys winning the league last weekend over in St Andrews there will be a member of the DDYFA committee coming down to present the lads with the league shield. It would be great to see as many family and friends there as possible to cheer the boys on during the presentation.
