On Wednesday, Beechgrove Tennis Club welcomed competitors to the annual gala Rose Bowl tennis competition. The very hot weather kept some of the older competitors away- but those who braved the exceptional conditions were rewarded with some great matches. The under 16 Rose Bowl competition was won for the second year running by Bertie Duncan. He narrowly beat Jamie Wilson in a highly competitive match. The final score was 6-4, 7-5. In the under 11βs Innes Dalziel came first - winning all of his matches. Second was Lewis Wilson, third - Charlie King, fourth and fifth were Finlay McDonald and Mila Carlyle. For the girls under 7βs, Aria Carlyle came first, second was Lulu Beadle. The boys under 7βs was won by Quinn Finley and second was Rex Little. It was great to see these youngsters giving it their all! We also welcomed our disability friends. The green ball competition was won by Connor Cruikshank, second was Andrew Taylor, joint third were Emma Birley and Zoe Irving. The yellow ball competition was won by Paul Godfrey, who had to work very hard with a 0-30 handicap. Lewis Lamont was runner up, with Dillon Cousins and Darrell Stark in joint third. A special award was given to Dillon Cousins for Good Sportsmanship. Well done to all the competitors for making it a fun event. Many thanks go to all our volunteers, without whom we would not be able to put on this event. Last but not least, a big thank you to George Hunter for sponsoring the event.Moffat & District Gala
