It’s worth mentioning, that during prolonged high intensity activity, the ability to relax whilst maintaining a high work rate is crucial to performance. Sprinters as with all runners also need to develop this ability.
It’s also worth mentioning that tension in the muscular skeletal systems will slow the effectiveness, and ultimately bring about premature fatigue in the working muscles.
The ability to relax during competition can take time and experience.
Relaxation should however be practiced for diligently through training regimes!
I was actually starting to fatigue during this, my last round. This reminded me to relax in order to complete the round!
