🏏Weekend Fixtures | Sponsored by Capstones Co 🍻❤️💛

They came, they watched, they sponsored… and apparently had such a good time they’ve come back for more! A huge thank you to Capstones Co for sponsoring this week’s match ball. Either they really enjoyed themselves, or they’ve realised village cricket is the cheapest form of weekend entertainment available.

Before we get into the weekend, a quick word for our U11s who have been absolutely robbed by the British summer this week - Monday’s game rained off, Thursday’s cancelled because it was too hot. Character building, apparently. We’re starting to think the weather just doesn’t fancy bowling to them.

🏡 Saturday

🏏 1st XI vs Carrib United CC (Home)
The 1s are finally back at home after a few weeks on tour. Fresh from last week’s heroic chase attempt and Chris Wade’s moonshot six, the lads will be hoping familiar surroundings lead to fewer fielding donations and more points.

🚗 2nd XI vs Kislingbury Temperance CC (Away)
The 2s head to Kislingbury looking to build on last week’s excellent win. Spirits are high, confidence is back, and everyone has suddenly remembered how to bat.

☀️ Sunday

🚗 1st XI vs Harlington CC (Away)
The Sunday 1s return for their first fixture since 7th June. Plenty of rested legs, questionable fitness levels, and - after a few Sunday 1s players enjoyed a guest appearance in the Sunday 2s last week - a chance to remind everyone which team sheet they normally appear on. Temporary loans are over. Time to return to the top flight.

🏡 2nd XI vs Cublington CC (Home)
The Sunday 2s are back at home and ready to go again. Expect runs, wickets, supportive applause… and at least one debate over whether that was definitely out. Also expecting at least one player to ask where all last week’s ringers have disappeared to.

Good luck to everyone pulling on the maroon and gold this weekend - let’s hope for dry weather, full teamsheets, and results that make Sunday evening’s write-up slightly easier.

🏏 Weekend Round-Up | Sponsored by the NBSPFC VPs ⚽🍻
First things first - a huge thank you to this week’s match ball sponsors, the NBSPFC VPs. Try saying that three times fast after a couple in the clubhouse and report back. Fantastic to have support once again from across the wider club ❤️💛

This weekend brought a proper mixed bag: one brilliant win, two defeats, some big performances… and at least one captain deciding if nobody else was going to chase the runs, he probably should.

🏏 Saturday 1st XI – Away | Lost by 92 runs
One of those scorecards where the result doesn’t tell the full story… although 92 runs is admittedly doing quite a lot of telling.

The fielding can probably best be described as “generous” - plenty of encouragement shown to the opposition batters, with catches, boundaries and the occasional extra run all donated free of charge. Charity begins at home and all that.
With the ball, Tom Anderson, Kranthi Patlolla and Amit Chauhan all picked up 2 wickets apiece, while Will Smith, Alan Quelch and Jamie Abbott held onto catches when given the opportunity.

Then came the chase.

Special mention to Tom Anderson, making his return to the side and putting in a solid shift with the ball… before being rewarded by opening the batting in the second innings and producing the rare but efficient first-ball duck. One delivery, no messing about, straight into post-match refreshments.

At number 3, Charlie Maw decided accumulation was overrated and came out swinging, trying to drag us into the chase by sheer force of boundary-hitting and positive intent.

Faisal Ahmed chipped in with a classy 36, keeping hopes alive before skipper Josh Hobson, batting at 7 and apparently deciding enough was enough, launched a rescue mission with 68 (9 fours, 2 sixes) and briefly had everyone wondering whether the impossible might actually happen.

Late on, Chris Wade raised spirits with what witnesses are describing as an approximately 90-metre bomb, proving that while the result may have gone, entertainment value remained high until the end.

Huge credit to the opposition as well - a great side, sound lads, played in exactly the right spirit and excellent hosts. We look forward to returning the hospitality later in the season (hopefully with slightly tighter fielding).

🏡 Saturday 2nd XI – Home | WON by 118 runs 🚨
Now we’re talking.

The 2s piled on 280 runs, which is roughly 250 more than some recent team totals (no names mentioned).

Leading the charge:
🔥 Mustafa Rabbani – 64
🔥 Prakash Rai – 48
🔥 Srinkanth Raparthi – 34
🔥 VC-turned-captain-for-the-day Priyadarshi Gourav – 32

Then with the ball they absolutely slammed the door shut.
⭐ Joel Onedin – 4/15, including 3 maidens in 8 overs (economical enough to make the treasurer emotional)
⭐ Muneeb Dawood – 3/41
⭐ Simon Pavitt – 2/40
⭐ Mustafa Rabbani – 1/28

A huge win and a reminder that scoring lots of runs does, in fact, help.

☀️ Sunday 2nd XI – Home | Lost by 6 wickets
Despite featuring a few wandering Sunday 1st XI players and a spirited effort all round, Sunday ended in defeat.

Bradley Ratcliffe came heartbreakingly close to his first NBCC fifty - one of cricket’s cruel little traditions.

Highlight of the day belonged to junior Lewis Thompson, who tore through the top order with 3-36 off 4 overs. Even better, dad Dan Thompson, standing behind the stumps, took a catch off Lewis’ bowling after dropping one 2 weeks ago.

Forget socks and novelty mugs - that’s a proper Father’s Day present.

Special mention too for Umar Aziz, who took a brilliant catch on the boundary to stop an opposition batter reaching a century with his shiny new bat. Cruel? Maybe. Funny? Absolutely.

And finally, club captain Josh Hobson took a break from wicketkeeping to have a go with the ball and picked up the last wicket - opening the door to a future all-rounder rebrand.

Overall: 1 win, 2 losses, plenty of runs, wickets everywhere and enough stories to keep the clubhouse conversation going all week.

📋 TEAM NEWS IS IN! 🏏

Three New Bradwell CC sides are in action this weekend, and the selectors have once again proven that no amount of good performances guarantees you’ll understand their decisions…

❤️ Saturday 1st XI travel to Burton Latimer CC looking to back up last week’s thriller with another victory.

💛 Saturday 2nd XI host Great Houghton CC, with several players confidently predicting big scores despite all available evidence from previous weeks.

❤️ Sunday 2nd XI host Printers CC as they look to get back to winning ways.

As for the Sunday 1st XI, they’re enjoying a week off… or at least they were supposed to be.

We’ve noticed a couple of familiar Sunday 1st XI names have mysteriously appeared in the Sunday 2nd XI squad 😉 Apparently a weekend without cricket was simply too much to handle. Whether they’ve volunteered to help out or just couldn’t face a Sunday of DIY remains unclear.

A huge thank you once again to this week’s match ball sponsors, the New Bradwell St Peter’s Football Club Vice Presidents (NBSPFCVP).

We’re still trying to work out whether NBSPFCVP is a football committee, a WiFi password, or what happens when autocorrect gives up halfway through a sentence. ⚽🍻

Good luck to all players this weekend. Score runs, take wickets, hold your catches, and most importantly give the admin something to talk about on Monday. ❤️💛🏏

🏏 Another big weekend awaits New Bradwell CC!

After last week’s mixed bag of results – a nail-biting win for the Saturday 1st XI, while both the Saturday 2nd XI and Sunday 2nd XI came up just short – all eyes are on this weekend’s fixtures.

📍 Saturday
1st XI travel to Burton Latimer CC looking to keep the momentum rolling, although perhaps with a little less drama than last week – the spectators’ hearts can’t take much more.
2nd XI are at home as Great Houghton CC visit Bradwell, with the squad having set themselves the ambitious target of at least 20 runs each this week 🤞

📍 Sunday
The Sunday 1st XI are still enjoying their mid-season break- but they’ve promised they’ll get back to playing cricket next weekend!
The Sunday 2nd XI host Printers CC looking to get back to winning ways, with four juniors in the side ready to teach the seniors a thing or two.

A huge thank you to this week’s match ball sponsors, the New Bradwell St Peter’s Football Club Vice Presidents (NBSPFCVP).

Continuing last week’s theme of inter-club support, we’d like to thank NBSPFCVP for their sponsorship — although we’re still not sure whether it’s a football committee, a failed CAPTCHA test, or the noise our Biggles makes when trying to work out Duckworth-Lewis.

Best of luck to all three sides this weekend. Play well, enjoy yourselves, and let’s make it a weekend to remember. 🏏

🏏 Weekend Round-Up | Sponsored by Bryan & Lisa Bardell ⚽❤️💛
Another huge thank you to Bryan and Lisa Bardell from NBSPFC for sponsoring this weekend’s cricket. We hope you enjoyed the games - and thank you for proving once again that support across the wider club extends beyond football… unlike some of our batting innings.

🥇 Saturday 1st XI – WON by 2 runs away at Podington CC
Cricket. Bloody hell.

Back where our season started, the 1st XI produced one of those games that reminds you why village cricket is the best - tension, drama, panic in the final overs, and eventually… victory by just 2 runs.

Leading the charge was Alan Quelch, who rolled back the years with 56 (9 fours), before deciding batting wasn’t enough and adding a catch and a run out for good measure 💪

With the ball, David Perkins (2), Najeeb Akram (1), Chris Wade (3) and VC Andy Overton (3) slowly squeezed the life out of Podington and brought home a brilliant win.

Special mention to our hosts- fantastic company, a great game and an outstanding tea… although reports suggest the captain’s wallet left noticeably lighter than when he arrived.

🏏 Saturday 2nd XI – Lost to Olney Town CC
The less said the better… but unfortunately admin has deadlines.

Things actually started brilliantly with wickets shared between Kranthi Patlolla (2), Dan Thompson (2), Pri Gourav (1) and Joel Onedin (1).

Unfortunately, the batting innings could best be described as “short but memorable”. Captain Alex top scored with 13, while Dan Thompson won the unofficial award for Most Time Spent At The Crease™, facing a marathon 27 balls.
Safe to say our batters were there for a fun time, not a long time.

☀️ Sunday Friendly XI vs Olde England CC
Sunday brought another home fixture and another reminder that cricket is easier if everyone gets runs.

Ryan Lambert (39), Simon Pavitt (38) and Will Smith (27) did the heavy lifting with the bat while the rest of the scorecard featured an inspiring display of equality.

Defending the total, Ryan picked up 2 wickets, Simon added 1 wicket and 2 maidens (proof that line and length still exists), with Muneeb Dawood and Oliver Goodall grabbing one each.

Olde England got over the line by 5 wickets, but plenty of positives and another good day in the sun.

Overall: 1 win, 2 defeats, an excellent teas and significantly more chat about cricket than weather this week.

See you next weekend 🏏🍻

13/06/2026

Team stayed calm and collected* as vice captain Andy and skipper/wicketkeeper Josh combined in flawless chaos to bowl out the final batter with just 3 runs needed. Heart rates through the roof, captain’s wallet now lighter, but somehow… we escaped with the win. 🍻🏏

*Not even remotely calm.

🏏 Teamsheets Are In! 🏏

The selections are made and we're ready for another weekend of New Bradwell cricket!
A huge thank you to this week's match ball sponsors, Bryan and Lisa Bardell from NBSPFC. It's fantastic to see support from across the wider New Bradwell Sports Association family - one club, many volunteers, and plenty of sport. ❤️💛🏏

Saturday sees the 1st XI head back to Podington looking to improve on last week's batting exploits, while the 2nd XI host Olney Town at Bradwell Rd and will be hoping their scorecard contains more runs than bar receipts this time around.

Sunday brings another home fixture for the 2nd XI against Olde England, giving the lads a second chance this weekend to impress spectators, teammates, and any family members preparing brutally honest post-match reviews.

Good luck to everyone pulling on the maroon and gold this weekend. Here's hoping for sunshine, plenty of runs and wickets, and a much happier Sunday round-up!

🏏 Weekend Fixtures | Sponsored by Bryan & Lisa Bardell ⚽🍻
This week's cricket is proudly sponsored by Bryan and Lisa Bardell, two fantastic club people from the football side of the family at NBSPFC. It's always great to see support coming from across the wider New Bradwell Sports Association community - proving that regardless of whether you prefer footballs or cricket balls, we're all united by a love of sport, volunteering, and discussing the weather far more than is healthy.

After last week's mixed bag of rain, near-misses and children ruthlessly exposing their fathers in public, we're back for another weekend of cricket and cautiously optimistic predictions.

🏏 Saturday
🏡 2nd XI vs Olney Town CC (Home)
The 2nd XI welcome Olney Town to Bradwell Road, hoping to spend more time on the cricket pitch than they did at the clubhouse bar last week. Availability looks good, spirits are high, and players have promised their partners they'll actually be playing cricket this weekend.

🚗 1st XI vs Podington CC (Away)
The 1st XI make the return trip to Podington, where their season began back in April. The lads will be looking to improve on last week's batting display, with the ambitious target of having at least one player reach 20.

☀️ Sunday
🏡 2nd XI vs Olde England CC (Home)
The only fixture of the day sees the 2nd XI back at home against Olde England. Fresh from fielding three father-and-son combinations last weekend, there remains a genuine risk that half the side will be receiving coaching advice from relatives somewhere on the boundary.

🌦️ Weather Forecast
Current forecasts suggest actual sunshine may be available this weekend. Club meteorologists remain sceptical, having been hurt before.

📣 Good luck to all those pulling on a New Bradwell shirt this weekend, and a huge thank you once again to Bryan and Lisa Bardell for their support.

Here's hoping for fewer rain interruptions, more runs, more wickets, and absolutely no children delivering brutally honest post-match assessments of the captaincy.

💛❤️

🏏Weekend Round-Up | Sponsored by Ian Leask 🍺🎳⚽

First things first, a huge thank you to our match ball sponsor Ian Leask. An Arsenal fan who's finally discovering what winning feels like, a skittles enthusiast, and a man who enjoys the occasional pint. We can only assume he was hoping for a weekend of cricketing success to match Arsenal's season... unfortunately, the club had other ideas.

🌟Thursday Night - U11s Save The Weekend

Before we get to the grown-ups, let's focus on the people carrying this club at the moment...

Our Mixed U11 Hardball side beat Stewkley Vicarage CC at home, setting a club record with an incredible 14 wickets taken!

🥇 3 wickets each for A***n, Shanaya and Joshua (including Josh's first-ever hat-trick!)
🥇 2 wickets apiece for Harry and Narayan
🥇 1 wicket for Buddy

🌧️Saturday - Rain 1, New Bradwell 0

The weather did what opposition bowlers couldn't and got our 2nd XI out of playing cricket altogether. Thankfully they didn't have far to travel back to the clubhouse, where they selflessly volunteered their time propping up the bar. Unfortunately, some members forgot that spouses have access to social media. Thoughts and prayers.

The 1st XI managed to squeeze some cricket in before the heavens opened. Being bowled out for 98 by 3:30pm meant we were already looking for positives before the rain officially called proceedings off at 6pm.

Top score: Alan Quelch (19). We'll leave that one there.

☀️Sunday 1st XI vs Biggleswade CC

Sunday brought better weather but sadly not a different result.

Biggleswade posted 187/9, with wickets shared around by Bradley, Shaggy and skipper Chris (2 each), plus one apiece for Najeeb and Srikiran.

In reply, Najeeb produced a magnificent 98 from 116 balls, including 12 fours and a six. Two runs short of a deserved century and, sadly, the team finished short of the target too.

Cricket can be a cruel game.

🏏Sunday 2nd XI at Soulbury Village

After a few late changes, Andy O stepped up to captain the side.

Prakash Rai blasted 49 from 45 balls (2 fours, 5 sixes) before falling agonisingly short of his fifty, while junior Subhan chipped in with 14.

One of the highlights of the day was seeing three father-and-son combinations taking the field together. A lovely reminder of what village cricket is all about.

The juniors continued to show the seniors how it's done with wickets for Josh, Lewis and Subhan. Lewis should probably have had two, but unfortunately his dad dropped a catch. Family support comes in many forms.

Dan (3 wickets) and Ryan (2 wickets) did their best to drag the old guard back into the contest, but it wasn't quite enough.

And finally, the quote of the weekend comes from captain Andy's youngest son Oliver, who spent much of the afternoon helping the opposition warm up in the nets: "Every time my dad is captain we lose!"

No further comment required. 😂

A brilliant sight for the Sunday 2nd XI today, with three dads-and-lads pairs taking the field together. Cricket is one of the few sports where different generations can share the same team, and we loved seeing it in action this afternoon!
