A common mistake people make is wanting to ‘lose weight’. ⁣

This usually means they eat as little as possible, start doing cardio and get disappointed when they end up looking like a bag of bones. ⁣

What most people really want to do is lose fat. ⁣

This means reducing your bodyfat while retaining muscle. Muscle mass is essential for your body to be strong and fit. ⁣

If you’re getting knee pain during squats it may not mean you have to cut them out completely. Try changing your technique like this. ⁣

- Initiate the movement from your hips instead of your knees. This means sticking your bum out. ⁣

- As you do this shift all of your weight onto the outside of your heels while pushing your knees outwards. ⁣

- Aim to go to 90 degrees at your knees or slightly below. ⁣

- Push back up by imagining you are pushing the ground away from you.⁣

- Drive your hips forwards, knees back and squeeze your glutes (butt) at the top of the movement. ⁣

- Repeat steps 1 - 5 until you are dizzy. ⁣
