Well that's BRKC finished for another year.
This year I really put the effort in getting plenty of practice & prep in during the months leading up to the event, in practice my pace was good and I was feeling confident of a much improved performance over my 81st of last year, my sights optimistically set on a top 50 finish.
Unfortunately however that was not to be the case, poor qualifying in all 4 heats really hampered any chances I had, coupled with getting hit from behind a couple of times in round 1, not adjusting to the alternate layout quickly enough in round 2 & sub-par kart draws all weekend I was way off even my own pace from qualifying, and in a field this tough even a couple of tenths drops you down from contender to the back of the pack. In the end I wound up 94th out of 100, not once in the lead up to or during the weekend did I ever imagine I would do worse than last year, but here we are.
The disappointment is pretty high right now, it's definitely tough to enjoy a weekend where results are so tough & to not allow it to affect your confidence, but enjoy the weekend I did & trying to keep that confidence as high as possible and use it as fuel to improve for next year.
Finally a massive thanks to all the organisers & staff of both British Rental Kart Championship & Formula Fast Karting everyone was so amazing all weekend and really contributed to an amazing event.
