Abbey Swimming Club A social swimming club run entirely by volunteers. For less than £2 a week anyone can swim 3 times a week in a 25m heated pool.

It is with regret that Abbey Swimming Club is closed for good. Despite trying to find an alternative venue, we have been unable to continue the club.
Thanks to all you lovely members who have been so loyal over the years.

Sorry everyone but we remain closed for the time being. We are very sad not to be able to open for our members and to welcome new ones. The safety of the staff and pupils at the school as well as our safety has to be the top priority at this difficult time. We hope to have better news later in the term.
Thanks for understanding and we hope to see you all again!

The pool is still closed and will remain so until we get permission to reopen.
Members please hold tight and don’t worry about renewals. You will be given 3 months grace on your payments to make up for the loss of swimming time. Potential new members stay in touch! We all hope to resume when things are safe to do so. Thanks 😊

As you can all guess we are still closed 😩 and will stay closed until we are given permission to reopen. Plenty of notice will be given to swimmers about reopening dates and membership renewals. Just be patient a while longer and we hope to see you all soon. In the meantime stay safe and keep smiling 😁

Due to essential maintenance work at the pool, it will be closed from Monday 16th December until Monday 6th January. That means that the last swim this year will be this Sunday 15th.
We hope you all have a very happy Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing you again in 2020!

The lane swimming on Tuesdays and Saturdays have proved to be very popular. The 3 lanes (for fast, serious swimmers, the not so fast but very able swimmers and the more social swimmers!) have enabled everyone to feel confident and safe in the water. New members are always welcome. Come and have a go and see what a friendly club we are.
Saturdays 10-12am, Sundays 8-9am, Tuesdays 6.45-8.30pm

Huge congratulations to Mary and Bob for passing their lifeguard renewal exam last night. It takes a lot of hard work, both physical and academic, and a lot of dedication but the reward is immense!! Without lifeguards there would be no club! Well done guys 😁😊

If anyone is interested in becoming a fully qualified lifeguard, then your chance is just around the corner! Robert will be starting a course very soon (dates to be confirmed) at the pool. You may never have such an opportunity again to be trained to save lives. Today Mandy and I renewed our lifeguard exam and we both passed with flying colours! It’s such a useful skill to have and the training is enjoyable - thanks Robert for all the work you put into training us and for the extra sessions to help us sail through the exam!

For a trial period of 2 months we will be roping off a single middle lane of the pool for the stronger swimmers on a Tuesday evening. This will allow those who like to swim near the sides to carry on using those lanes and those who like to swim lengths to do so more easily. Any feedback is very welcome!

Come and see what Abbey Swimming Club is all about this weekend. Our free taster session is all you will need to be convinced that joining the club is a fantastic idea for the whole family. Saturdays 10-12, Sundays 8-9 am and Tuesdays 6:45-8.30 pm. You may even be tempted to join our very friendly lifeguard team!
