A fantastic day yesterday helping support one of our beneficiaries, partnering up with The National Trust’s volunteer programme!

We met up with John at their Langdale office and heading out to do some dry stone walling, and learn everything there is to know about being a NT Ranger.

What has come from this is our beneficiaries need for time in nature, and to give back. Our beneficiary now wants to volunteer for the NT on a regular basis, as he knows how important the work the National Trust do.

Thanks to John and everyone at the Langdale office for making this happen!

We did something quite incredible last week…
Ourselves and laurenm_b (LMB Coaching) heading out with The Well Communities up to the summit of Loughrigg. Now, we have done similar things in the past but we have never done cold water swimming with them!
After the walk, some of the group took the plunge under the safe guidance of Lauren.
They were left feeling invigorated and on a huge buzz!
Throughout the summer we will be doing this every Friday with the Kendal, Barrow & Carlisle Well groups.
Exciting times!

Haven spoken to James, from Tracks & Dales, which let’s be honest, everybody who knows James loves James, I’m really excited to see that he’ll be running a series of wellbeing walks in partnership with Every Life Matters 🌿

The walks are specifically there to support beneficiaries of Every Life Matters and anyone affected by su***de, suicidal thoughts or grief.

As Every Life Matters always say, it’s about knowing you’re not alone. We absolutely see the value in walking, connection and simply being alongside other people, so I’d really encourage anybody who feels these walks might benefit them to get involved.

Upcoming dates:
🚶 Saturday 13th June
🚶 Saturday 11th July
🚶 Saturday 15th August
🚶 Saturday 12th September
🚶 Saturday 17th October
🚶 Saturday 7th November
🚶 Saturday 12th December

If you’d like to get involved, you can contact: [email protected]

And equally, if you feel like these walks maybe aren’t quite the right fit for you personally, but you are looking for opportunities to get outdoors, meet people or improve wellbeing, still get in touch because there may be other groups, clubs or activities we can signpost you towards.

Continuing to support the NHS’ Primary Care Networks will always be at the heart of what we do, so receiving reviews like the one below is always an incredible feeling. Our director, James recently supported a beneficiary for their first walk with us. Although nervous at first, they were soon able to open up and really understood how important being out in nature is and how powerful it can be for our mental health:

“I would just like to make a review about James whom I met on Monday 11th May. I have been suffering severe anxiety for a long time and I was referred to Tracks&Dales to do walks to help me.
James met me and I was put at ease straight away. After doing the initial paperwork, we set off on a really interesting walk, where I did a lot of talking. James makes you feel so at ease. I would highly ur ecommend Tracks&Dales.
I cannot wait for my next walk. I actually forgot all about my problems for one and a half hours.”

Last week we met up with both Kendal & Barrow Well Communities groups.
We initially met at their Kendal hub, with the aim of giving our beneficiaries a voice, and acting on our ‘person led approach’. We didn’t want to be outside with these amazing people, without hearing their opinions on what they want from the sessions.
Through amazing conversation, we now understand more of what these people want, and have put plans in place to facilitate this!
We all then headed up as a big group on to Whitbarrow Scar with fantastic views towards the Lakeland fells.
It was an incredible feeling as everyone seemed to be in such good moods, with honest conversations flowing, milestones reached and obstacles overcome.
Already looking forward to meeting up with these incredible people again in the near future!

Our most recent wellbeing walk with Andy’s Man Club was a cracker ☀️

We headed up Whitbarrow Scar near Kendal with people joining from AMC in Barrow, Ulverston & Kendal!

Some Kendal lads live very close by, and had never been up, so it was privilege to be be able to get them up!

Others had not pushed themselves for a long time, and it was a real challenge for some, so it was incredible to see such grit and determination from them, and for them to say it was all worth it afterwards!

Our next walk with Andy’s Man Club is on Saturday 13th June, walking the Keswick to Threlkeld old railway route. Hope to see as many AMC members there as possible!

A fantastic wellbeing walk in Borrowdale up Castle Crag with the Carlisle Well Communities!

It was great to meet some new faces and continue to get to know existing ones.

To see people really push their limits was incredible to witness, especially those who had not experienced the great outdoors or being immersed in nature before!

Huge effort from everyone involved 💚⛰️
