Today is

Today, we’re reminded that a conversation can matter more than we realise.

No matter where you are: at work, at home, on a walk; checking in with who you’re with could really make the difference - “How are you really doing?”

Don’t worry if you don’t have the answers or even the right words. Listening can sometimes be all it needs to help someone feel less alone.

Let’s look out for each other today, tomorrow and every day.

If life feels hard right now, there are some amazing support groups out there in your local area. We have a ‘Support Directory’ on our website if you’re stuck on where to turn.

Saturday was something special!

Our monthly walk with Andy’s Man Club was one to remember… Helvellyn via Striding and Swirral Edge!

This was some people’s first ‘proper’ mountain, and what a way to do it.

The weather forecast was wet fro mid morning but the rain never arrived so we were able to safely complete the edges without a drop of rain.

Thank you to everyone that attended and we can’t wait for the next one… Scafell Pike!

“It’s the best way of celebrating 6 months being clean”

This was one quote from one of Carlisle’s The Well Communities residents on our walk + swim session yesterday afternoon.

A wellbeing walk on Walla Crag and a cold water therapeutic swim in Derwent Water. There’s not many things better than that!

Partner spotlight:

The Well Communities.

We have been supporting The Well for nearly a year now, with weekly wellbeing walks, therapeutic cold water swimming, mountain adventures and soon, rock climbing!

The Well are a ‘lived experience recovery organisation’ and we support their Cumbrian residents in Kendal, Barrow and Carlisle.

They support people suffering with drug and alcohol addiction, engaging in the 12 step recovery programme.

The outdoor therapeutic support we offer goes hand in hand with this, giving the residents a real sense of purpose and achievement each month. Our goal with each resident is to build their foundations foe recovery through the power of nature, with the aim of giving them the independence to enjoy the outdoors safely when they finish their programme with The Well.

We support them every Friday, and some weekend too and we love every minute of it!

Thank you to The Well Communities for believing in what we do!

When photos don't give the day justice...

Last week we did something quite special. Two of our instructors, Holly & Alex, supported Every Life Matters, specifically families that have been impacted by su***de.

This has been in the works for a long time and it was absolutely wonderful to finally be able to offer this.

We met the families at KendalWall, and had an afternoon of indoor climbing!
The young people (and some adults!) had a truly wonderful and invaluable time climbing. This was such a lovely way for families to come together, all impacted by one of, if not the most traumatic way to lose someone.

This is something we will continue to offer moving forward and we cannot wait for the next one!

Another fantastic day with Andy’s Man Club! 👌

We met up in Great Langdale and walked up to Stickle Tarn before heading for the summits of Pavey Ark, Harrison Stickle and Loft Crag. A perfect weather today with a lovely breeze to keep us cool (and the dogs!).

If you like the thought of heading out into the hills but haven’t found the confidence to do it alone, get in touch. We would love to be able to support you!

We absolutely loved being able to support visually impaired individuals!

Tracks&Dales have recently teamed up with Vision Support Barrow & District for some nature connection workshops.

This time, the incredible Lauren (laurenm_b) met with the group at Tarn Hows. The choice of location was to enable the group to explore nature on terrain and in an environment where they felt comfortable, but also to improve their confidence and to see what’s possible!

The group tuned into their senses by hugging some trees, touching moss and knapweed and talking about how it all made them feel:

“A feast for the senses” was the comment of the day!

Thank you again to Vision Support for believing in what we do. We can’t wait for the next one!

A reminder that we’re heading to the Langdales this Saturday with beneficiaries of Andy’s Man Club!

If you attend any AMC on a Monday evening across Cumbria and haven’t been on a walk with us before, please get in touch! We would love to see some new faces join our walks.

We offer two walks from the same location, one mountain route and one lower level route to accommodate for all fitness levels.

THANK YOU!

To everyone that donated before, during and after our Offa’s D**e National Trail Challenge.

From beneficiaries, family, friends and anonymous donation, thank you! We raised £1,315!

This amount can make a real change, and really does help continue our goal of supporting everyone in Cumbria that needs it, all through the power of the great outdoors.
