Rochdale Boules League

🌤️ After a week of heavy downpours, the sun finally made an appearance for another fantastic afternoon of Rochdale Boules League action, with plenty of closely fought matches across the league.

Bamford Bowling Club vs Milton
Bamford Bowling Club were excellent hosts to Milton, providing the setting for some very demanding and competitive games.

Milton got off to the perfect start by winning both triples, but BBC showed great determination to fight back in the doubles, taking 2 out of the 3 games to level the scores.

After five singles matches, the overall score stood at 5-5, leaving everything resting on the final game. Every point was fiercely contested until Dave finally secured the victory, winning both the game and the match for Milton.

Like many of today's fixtures, it was a thrilling finish to a wonderful afternoon of pétanque. A big thank you to BBC for the great hospitality, including the sandwiches and pasties.

The Donkey vs Rochdale
Rochdale travelled to The Donkey, where the hosts were, as always, incredibly welcoming and great fun to play against.

The match also saw the debut of three of the league's younger players, including 10-year-old Jack and his dad Mike, who are both new to the league. Jack produced an excellent performance to win his singles match, before he and Mike staged a remarkable comeback from 8-0 down to win their doubles game—a brilliant debut for them both.

It was also a successful day for Rochdale's younger squad members:

Ben returned to the team and won all three of his games.
Eddie also completed a clean sweep, winning all three of his games.

Rochdale won all of the singles and both triples, with the only defeat coming in the doubles, where Paul and Jen narrowly lost 13-10 in a closely contested match.

The final result was a 10-1 victory for Rochdale, played in a fantastic atmosphere.

LoSW vs The Dellboys
LoSW hosted The Dellboys at Milnrow in another closely contested fixture. By all accounts there were some very tight games throughout the afternoon, with The Dellboys edging the match 6-5.

Trafford vs The Healey
Trafford also hosted The Healey at Milnrow and produced another strong performance, coming away with a 9-2 victory.

👏 Well done to everyone who took part today. It was another afternoon showcasing not only competitive pétanque but also the friendly spirit and camaraderie that makes the Rochdale Boules League so enjoyable.

Rochdale Boules League

All eight league teams were in action today, producing another afternoon of close competition and plenty of drama across the Rochdale Boules League.

The Dellboys hosted Rochdale’s Milton team at their new – or rather old – home, The Baum, having recently moved back to the pub where the league first began.

To say the pistes were challenging would be an understatement – it was like crazy golf in boules form! Trees, cobbles, boules eating bushes, plant pots, hills and dips all added to the unique playing surface, making for a fun and unpredictable afternoon.

The match itself was a real battle from start to finish.
The Dellboys made the stronger start, taking an early advantage by winning 4 of the 6 singles games.

Milton weren’t about to give up though and came storming back in the doubles, taking all three games to edge themselves into a 5-4 lead.

That meant it all came down to the triples, with everything still to play for. The Dellboys dug deep and produced a fantastic fightback, winning both triples to sn**ch the overall match victory 6-5.

Congratulations to The Dellboys on a hard-fought win, and thanks for a brilliant afternoon full of fun, laughter, and great boules. Oh and the meat pie ;)

Elsewhere in the league:

BBC 6 – 5 Rochdale
LoSW 8 – 3 The Healey
Trafford 10 – 1 The Donkey
