One of the 4 walks on offer on our Dunkeld coach trip on Saturday was Deuchary Hill (18.6km, 598m ascent). Four of us enjoyed this lovely walk in the Perthshire countryside. The heather was blooming and the sun shone all day.

Seven of us had a good day on Ben Vorlich (945m) on Sunday. We set off up this steep Munro from the visitors centre car park at Inveruglas on the Walk Highlands route. The weather wasn’t great, low cloud and wet above 700m but it was great to be out with this hardy bunch.

Four members of our group braved the poor forecast to go up Ben Lomond via the Ptarmigan route on Sunday. However after a very short time the waterproof layers were removed. A cold wind near the top blew most of the cloud away to reveal fine views from the summit, and the descent via the tourist path was in warm sunshine. A super day on our local Munro.

Today 13 of us, including a visitor from Carlisle, enjoyed a lovely walk in the beautiful Perthshire countryside. We started from the village hall in Amulree along the Rob Roy Way before branching out on to the hillside over Creag nan Gabhar (Goat Rock) and down towards Loch Freuchie. We picked up the Rob Roy Way again and followed it back to Amulree through Glen Quaich looking down over Loch Freuchie.

The Saturday market was in full swing as we walked through Keswick towards the exuberant colour of the flowers in Hope Park and then down to Lakeside for the fabulous views across Derwentwater.

It was hot, hot, hot!
There was plenty to explore on our walk to Friars Crag. From the Lakes poets, writers, artists and deep thinkers who all visited Keswick, Joseph Pocklington who altered the landscape to his own design to industrial history, (200 German miners colonised Derwent Island to escape the wrath of the local Keswick inhabitants) and more!

Time at the end for ice cream, cold drinks and a quick meal before meeting the coach.

One of the 4 walks on offer on our coach trip to Keswick yesterday was Blencathra. Eight of us (led by Fiona and Sonia) started from Threlkeld, taking in Scales Fell, Hallsfell Top and Blease Fell and back to Threlkeld where we enjoyed cold refreshments in the Horse & Farrier pub. Very welcome after a lovely walk in the fells on such a warm and humid day.
