Islay and Glasgow Black Belt Instructors on Isle of Islay at Islay residential Karate course and grading.

Congratulations to Lauren Stewart, chief instructor of Islay Karate, on being graded to 4th Dan (Yondan) Black Belt in Shotokai Karate-do at this Islay weekend karate course.

Updated information in relation to Karate classes over summer holidays.

Kelvin Hall on a Saturday afternoon from 1.00pm to 2.00pm for both children and adults - (class is open all year round)

Kelvin Hall on a Sunday afternoon from 12.00pm to 1.00pm for both children and adults- (class is open all year round)

During the summer holidays the Karate Association has booked the Kelvin Hall on a Wednesday evening from 7.00pm to 8.00pm for children and 7.00pm to 9.00pm for adults.

This class will run from Wednesday 5th July to Wednesday 9th August (except Wednesday 19th July when it will be cancelled).

Karate Over The Summer School Holidays

This is to advise all members of what is happening to Karate classes over the summer school holiday period.

Douglas Academy on a Monday evening from 6.30pm to 7.30pm for children only - (last class was Monday 12th June and will start back on Monday 21st August)

Notre Dame Primary School on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 7.00pm to 8.00pm for children and 7.00pm to 9.00pm for adults- (last Tuesday class will be 20th June and start back on Tuesday 20th August. Last Wednesday class will be Wednesday 21st June and start back on Wednesday 23rd August)

Knightswood Primary School on a Thursday evening from 6.30pm to approx 8.00pm for children only- (last class is on Thursday 22nd June and will start back on Thursday 17th August)

Notre Dame Primary School on a Saturday morning from 10.00am to 12.00pm for adults and 11.00am to 12.00pm for children - (last class will be Saturday 17th June and start back on Saturday 19th August)

Kelvin Hall on a Saturday afternoon from 1.00pm to 2.00pm for both children and adults - (class is open all year round)

Saturday 22/4/23, Sunday 23/4/23, Saturday 29/4/23 & Sunday 30/4/23 karate class will be held upstairs in Kelvin Hall in studio 3.

KARATE CLASSES FOR 2023

All of our Karate classes are now back to normal at Douglas Academy, Kelvin Hall, Knightswood Primary School and Notre Dame Primary School.

RESIDENTIAL KARATE COURSES FOR 2023

There will be 2 residential Karate courses being held in Scotland in 2023.

The first will be at the end of June and it will be on the Isle of Barra - for further details please speak to Angus Galbraith.

The second one will be held mid August on Islay - for further details please speak to Wilf Divens.

It is also in the pipeline to organise a residential Karate course abroad in Porto, Portugal near the end of this year - for further details chat to Stephen McGlinchey.

KARATE GRADING FOR ALL MEMBERS

A Karate grading is penned in for both Junior and Adult members with April looking to be the month it will be held.

KARATE SUITS

I am sure we are all aware about the cost of living circumstances and have to advise that it has impacted on the price of Karate suits which will more than likely lead to an increase of £2.00 to £3.00 per suit - please always check ebay etc to see if the cost of these suits there is more competitive.

KARATE FEES

I am pleased to say that there will be no increase in any of our Karate fees i.e. membership, monthly training fee or grading fee during 2023.
So long as members keep their monthly payments going over the full year then their annual membership fee will be waived and membership renewed automatically.
