πŸ’›πŸ–€ Absolutely Gutted πŸ’›πŸ–€

As sponsors of Largs Thistle, everyone at Mapes of Millport is absolutely gutted for the players, management, volunteers and supporters after today's 2–1 defeat in the Scottish Communities Cup Final at Broadwood.

To lead the game for around 85 minutes and then lose two goals in the closing stages is a cruel way for any cup final to end. Football can be heartbreaking at times, and today will hurt for everyone connected with the club.

That said, the lads can hold their heads high. To reach a national final and go toe-to-toe with one of the biggest names in Scottish junior football is a tremendous achievement and one that everyone connected with Largs Thistle should be incredibly proud of.

We would also like to congratulate Auchinleck Talbot on their victory and on lifting the trophy. Finals are won and lost on fine margins, and they showed their quality when it mattered most.

While the result wasn't the one we all hoped for, this cup run has created memories that will last a lifetime and has shown exactly what this Largs Thistle side is capable of.

To every player who pulled on the black and gold, every volunteer who worked behind the scenes, and every supporter who travelled to Broadwood and backed the team from the first whistle to the last β€” thank you.

The trophy may not be coming back to Largs this year, but we're incredibly proud to sponsor this fantastic football club and look forward to what comes next.

πŸŽ₯ The story of Mapes of Millport β€” 80 years in the making.

*** This is a first draft which will be finalised when we have time but its lovely to know the information ***

Before Mapes became part of Millport’s story, it began across the water in Greenock with Francis β€œFrank” Mapes, a bike shop, a love of keeping people moving, and a doctor’s advice to seek cleaner air.

That journey led Frank and Laura to Millport in 1946 β€” and the rest, as they say, is island history.

From cots, deckchairs and toy boats…
to bikes, family memories, quadricycles, e-bikes and generations of visitors…

This is the story of Mapes of Millport β€” from Greenock beginnings to 80 years of Pure Island Fun. ❀️🚲🧸

A huge thank you to the Mapes family, every staff member past and present, and every customer who has made us part of their Millport memories.
