We are encouraged by people from all walks of life to carry on fighting for change as conscientious protectors.

These are times of a fake democracy where the UK government is committing social murder- there are 1500 “excess deaths” per week, the legal system is geared to protecting the interests of the rich and powerful and failing to protect ordinary people and life and we have a billionaire owned media spewing out propaganda to shore up the interests of oligarchs.

Yet there are those of us fighting for all of our lives, we are all over the world seeking justice, we are in the streets, organising in our communities, defending our land; we are on strike, we are refusing to pay bills to corporations who are raking in profit at our expense.

Our rebellious acts have helped to expose the financing of the destruction of life by the banking system- and the cancerous economic system underpinning finance that incentivises harm.

As Donnachadh McCarthy wrote recently in the Independent “2022 was a successful year for climate finance activists. They started the year with all of the UK’s “big five” banks still funding new fossil fuel projects, but ended the year with only one left funding both new oil and gas projects.”

To use the language of the day I consider the fines and costs heaped on me as value for money given the changes that are already happening.

In off the record conversations we are told that our actions help those in the banking system make their case for change.

The one “big five” bank still committed to funding new fossil fuels is Barclays. As Barclays Bank continues to profit from the destruction of Earths life support systems I ask where is the justice? Why are the executives at Barclays Bank not being charged with committing crimes against humanity? When will we recognise and codify ecocide as a crime against peace?'

Many thanks to all who have attended in the past.

I made the decision to step away from the business this year due to the ongoing climate and biodiversity crisis, and the seemingly glacial pace of all industries to do anything about it, despite headlines like the below.

I know my actions are a drop in the ocean, but what is an ocean but a multitude of drops.

A new report from the UN’s top body of climate scientists is warning that temperatures will go beyond a key danger point unless countries worldwide cut greenhouse emissions faster than they are currently committed to doing.
