Grab a cup of tea, put your feet up and enjoy the Chairmanβs End of Season Message 2025/26.
As my first season as Chairman comes to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect
on what has been a hugely successful year across the entire club.
First and foremost, a massive thank you to all of our players and parents/guardians for
your continued commitment throughout the season. Whether at training on cold
evenings or travelling to matches week after week, your support and dedication are
what make this club so special.
A special thank you must also go to all of our coaches. The time, effort and commitment
that goes into planning sessions, organising teams and preparing players for matches
often goes unseen, but it is hugely appreciated. Our club simply would not function
without the incredible volunteers who give so much of their time for the benefit of our
young players.
I would also like to thank the senior committee for the incredible support they have
provided throughout my first season as Chairman β particularly Dan, Glen, Sam and
Liz, whose help and guidance have been invaluable.
This season also marked an important milestone for the club as we completed our first
year since taking over the lease at White City. During that time, we have transformed the
facilities available to our players and families. The changing room renovations have
been completed, and today marks the completion of the car park improvements. As a
result, we will head into the new season with a fantastic base for the club that we can all
be proud of.
The improvements donβt stop there. Over the summer, the interior of the clubhouse will
also be decorated and refreshed ready for the new season. The paint and MSN branding
have been very generously sponsored by Travel by Louise, and we are extremely grateful
for their support.
None of these developments would have been possible without the hard work,
commitment and dedication of Liz behind the scenes. The countless hours she has
invested in securing improvements, coordinating projects and driving the club forward
have been instrumental in helping us create facilities that will benefit players, coaches
and families for years to come.
This season also saw us welcome a brand new U7 side, beginning their football journey
under the coaching team of Elliott and Paul. It has been fantastic to see so many young
players take their first steps into grassroots football and become part of our club family.
The U8s have enjoyed a fantastic season, showing great improvement both individually
and as a team. The progress made by the players has been clear to see throughout the
year and is a credit to the hard work and dedication of coaches Jon, Chris, Ed, Dan and
Nick.
The U9s have seen the team develop and compete against some really strong
opposition throughout the season, always demonstrating the never-give-up attitude that
has been instilled by Dan and Chris. Their resilience, determination and willingness to
keep improving have been fantastic to watch.
The U10s have continued to develop into a determined and resilient team, consistently
demonstrating a positive attitude and willingness to learn under the guidance of James,
Kris and Sam.
For the U11s, it has been a season of steady growth and development. The team grew
stronger as the year progressed, with performances and results improving week after
week thanks to the efforts of Brad, Stuart and Scott.
Our girlsβ section has continued to thrive, with all three teams reaching their respective
League Cup Finals β something every player and coach involved should be immensely
proud of.
For the U11 Girls, reaching a final in their first full season together marks the beginning
of what promises to be a very exciting journey under Ross, Laura and Darryl.
The U14 Girls made it three finals in three years and remained in the hunt for the league
title until the final weeks of the season. Although it wasnβt to be this time, it has still
been another fantastic campaign and one Iβm incredibly proud to have shared alongside
Louise and John.
Meanwhile, the U15 Girls showed exactly what hard work, resilience and determination
can achieve. In only their third season together, Dan, Sam and Craig guided the team on
an unbeaten nine-game run to reach the cup final as they prepare for their final season
of youth football.
Our U15 Green side also enjoyed an excellent campaign. Under the leadership of Mike
and Russ, they became the clubβs fourth team to reach their respective cup final.
Although they suffered the heartbreak of a penalty shootout defeat, reaching the final
was a fantastic achievement and provides a strong platform as they prepare for their
first season in the Avon Youth League.
Our U15 Black side finished as league champions in their very first season in the Avon
Youth League β an incredible achievement and a testament to the hard work and
dedication of Keith, Glen, Steve and Dan over many years. To win the league in their
debut season is a remarkable accomplishment and one everyone associated with the
team should be proud of.
Across every age group, there have been countless moments of progress, teamwork,
resilience and enjoyment that embody everything grassroots football is about. While
trophies and finals are wonderful achievements, seeing our players develop both on
and off the pitch remains our greatest success.
Finally, thank you once again to everyone connected with the club for making this such
a memorable season. Grassroots football is built on community, teamwork and
volunteers, and this club continues to go from strength to strength because of every
single person involved.
Enjoy the summer break, and I look forward to welcoming both returning and new
players and coaches to our 2026/27 season launch day at Welton Rovers on 20th June.
Kind Regards,
Neil Hitchens
