Sunday Carveries at The Griffin restaurant return this Sunday! The menu features traditional favourites, including roast beef, pork and chicken. Our menu also includes a different vegetarian special each week, made with the freshest produce. Each dish is served with seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. All followed by a delicious dessert.

Our newest member of the Golf team, Elodie, is hosting a women's only short course, Ladies "Get into Golf"!

This four-week course is the perfect place to start golfing if you are a beginner or getting back into the game after some time out. Over the first three sessions, we'll build your fundamentals step by step: grip, setup, and how to hit every club in the bag, giving you a solid, confident foundation to take out onto the course. In the fourth and final session, you'll put everything you've learned into practice with a game around the fantastic 5 hole par 3 course.

Huge congratulations to Cowdray member Morton Bailey for reaching the final of the Men’s England Amateur Championships, held in the Midlands last week. Well done Morton for a fantastic achievement in one of the most prestigious amateur events in the UK, with 288 players starting the tournament.

The very best of luck to Cowdray members teeing it up in the Sussex Amateur Championships tomorrow at Piltdown GC. Including the reigning Champion from last year’s event at Cowdray, Steve Mitchell, runner up Oscar White along with Morton Bailey, Harry Callow and Will Allen.

A huge congratulations to Will Allen for winning the Cowdray Junior Championship for a 4th year in a row, with a sparkling 2 under par 68, a new yellow tee course record.

Runner up was Georgia Young who carded a level par 73 which is also a new red tee course record.

An outstanding achievement for both!

1st Team League Match vs Surrey (Home)

Sussex First Team travelled to Golf At Goodwood Downs Course yesterday to take on Surrey County Golf Ltd in a closely contested South East League fixture.

After a practice round disrupted by poor weather, conditions improved for match day and the contest got off to an even start, with the morning foursomes finishing level at 2-2.

Heading into the afternoon singles, Surrey looked to have the momentum, but the Sussex side showed great determination and resilience to battle back and secure a 6-6 tie.

There were several standout performances for Sussex. Josh McCartain (Goodwood) enjoyed a memorable First Team debut, winning both of his matches to contribute two valuable points. Steve Mitchell and Morton Bailey Cowdray Golf also remained unbeaten throughout the day, each securing a point in both their foursomes and singles matches.

With the match finely balanced, George Shakespeare's Royal Eastbourne Golf Club point in the afternoon singles proved crucial in helping Sussex secure the tie against a strong Surrey side.

Thank you to Goodwood Golf Club for hosting the fixture and presenting the Downs Course in excellent condition throughout the day.

This week, we hosted a small group from the On Course Foundation. For the first time, our three Captain’s are supporting the same cause in the On Course Foundation, which supports the recovery of injured Service personnel via the sport of golf. This may be through organising events or offering employment opportunities in the industry.

The group of 10 arrived in the morning and following coffee and tea, they had the opportunity for a shortgame coaching clinic from PGA Professional Harry Smith followed by lunch. Afterwards, the group played a friendly match against some of our members, including Club Captain Simon Seymour, Ladies Captain Marilyn Davis and Seniors Captain Eric Morrish.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the first event of its kind here at Cowdray and there are already plans to replicate it in the near future.
