One of the biggest reasons golfers come over the top with the driver is what the trail arm does in transition.
As soon as the downswing starts, many players throw the right arm out towards the ball. That move sends the club over the plane, steepens the shaft and usually leads to pulls, slices and weak strikes.
Instead, feel like your right elbow stays tucked in front of your body as you start down. This helps the club shallow naturally, allowing you to approach the ball from the inside and deliver the club with more speed and consistency.
It might feel strange at first, but if you’ve always thrown the club over the top, that’s exactly how it should feel.
