"We refuse to let a diagnosis keep us off the court, and playing sport together is our way of staying strong, both physically and mentally."

8 players from one of our local groups in Harrogate travelled to Denmark to compete in the Parkinson’s Nordic Open 2026. Over a fantastic weekend of padel, the team showcased incredible determination, skill, and team spirit, representing their club and the Parkinson’s community with pride on the international stage.

"Parkinson's UK is an absolute lifeline, providing invaluable local support, building a fantastic community, and driving the research we need for a cure. We wanted to give back to the charity that champions everyone living with this condition and helps us realize that life absolutely doesn't stop with a diagnosis.

"Beyond raising vital funds, we wanted to completely smash the stigma around Parkinson's. By stepping onto an international stage and coming home with silverware, we hope to show anyone recently diagnosed that you can still challenge yourself, try new things, and live an active, competitive, and joyful life."

The team have raised almost ÂŁ6,000 for us, and we're so grateful for their incredible donation. We can't do it without you.

We are delighted to announce that our Co-Founder and Director, Charlie Appleyard, has been awarded an MBE in His Majesty The King’s Birthday Honours List for services to people with Parkinson’s and Fundraising.

While this recognition was never the reason Charlie founded Sport Parkinson's, his vision has always been to create more opportunities for people living with Parkinson’s to be active, connected and supported through sport and exercise.

Charlie is deeply humbled to receive this honour and shares it with the entire Parkinson’s community, whose determination and inspiration continue to drive our work.

Congratulations, Charlie and thank you for your unwavering commitment to improving lives of those in our community.

We didnt know Jose very well but we chatted a couple of times at Ormesby. We were very sad to hear of her passing.

I've started going to the Finding Flow sessions in Darlington, and thoroughly enjoy them. Elaine, who leads the sessions, is incredibly talented, and so creative in her approach. Well done Moving Minds!

✨ We’re absolutely delighted to share that Moving Minds has been nominated for a BBC Radio Tees Make a Difference Award! ✨

This recognition means so much to us because it celebrates the incredible people who make our work possible – the participants who bring energy, creativity and courage to every session, the families and carers who support them, and the partners, volunteers and supporters who believe in the power of dance to improve health and wellbeing.

To be nominated is a huge honour, and we're incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey so far. Thank you for helping us make a difference in our communities. ❤️
