🔥 HILL REPS: THE SECRET SAUCE TO STRONGER, FASTER RUNNING 🔥
If you’ve ever wondered why runners swear by hills, it’s because they work. Hill rep sessions pack a huge punch in a short amount of time, building strength, speed, and resilience without needing to hammer out long, hard miles.

Here’s why they’re game‑changers:

Power Boost
Hills naturally build leg strength, activating glutes, hamstrings, and calves with every drive upwards.

Improved Form
The incline encourages a higher knee lift, stronger arm drive, and better posture.

Speed Without the Impact
You get the benefits of speedwork with less pounding on the joints.

Mental Toughness
Every rep teaches you to stay controlled under pressure.

Bigger Engine
Hills increase aerobic capacity, helping you run stronger for longer.

Whether you're training for a 5K or a marathon, hill reps are one of the most efficient ways to level up your running.

🏔️ Embrace the hills. Feel the burn. Reap the rewards. This Thursday with Sarah at 6:30pm.

🔥 Big news for Mickleover Running Club! 🔥

We’re thrilled to share that Mickleover Running Club has been awarded a £250 donation from Bloor Homes’ Community Fund, one of just four local organisations selected 🎉

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, this support couldn’t have come at a better time. The donation will help us purchase new pop‑up banners and teardrop flags for the Mason Arms and for events across the year, boosting our visibility and helping even more people discover our welcoming, inclusive club.

With 150+ members, weekly Tuesday & Thursday group runs, our monthly trail run, and a hugely successful Couch to 5K programme, we’re proud to be a volunteer‑run club that brings people together, supports fitness, and builds community.

A huge thank you to Bloor Homes for recognising the impact of local groups like ours and supporting our next decade of growth

Mickleover Running Club smashed the Derby Hill Climb Challenge on Wednesday, taking 3rd place overall with an impressive 9.53 laps per runner.

A huge shout‑out to our Chairperson, David Narborough, who stormed to the 3rd fastest lap of the night in 02:44.

Brilliant effort from everyone who took part — you did the club proud!

☀️ WEEK 8… COMPLETED! ☀️
Our amazing Mickleover Running Club Couch to 5K crew absolutely smashed another milestone this week. No stopping. No giving up. Just pure determination and brilliant teamwork.

You’re now 8 weeks in, stronger than ever, and just one final week away from completing the full programme. The finish line is so close you can almost touch it.

Mickleover Running Club is proud to be the most welcoming and supportive running community in the area. We host a FREE Couch to 5K course designed for complete beginners, as well as those returning to running after a break—whether due to injury, life changes, or simply needing a fresh start.

Our next nine-week course kicks off on Tuesday 28th July 2026 and runs through to Tuesday 22nd Sept. 2026. We meet weekly at 6:00pm outside The Masons Arms in Mickleover, gradually increasing our running distance each session until we reach the 5K goal.

🎉 Mickleover Running Club at the Hairy Helmet Relay 🎉

What a night at the Hairy Helmet Relay in Darley Park!

We couldn’t be prouder of every single MRC member who laced up, teamed up and took on the best two‑and‑a‑bit‑mile relay around.

Events like this are what make our running community so special, fun, friendly, and full of people pushing themselves and each other to be brilliant.

What a great night out on the trails at Bradgate!
Huge thanks to Kellie for leading us through deer‑dotted paths, big climbs, and all that incredible history, from the ruins of Lady Jane Grey’s childhood home to the silhouette of Old John watching over us.

Nothing beats an evening run in a place this magical.
