Respect in the New Season – A Message from Mexborough Knights
Good morning everyone,
As we begin another grassroots football season, we want to take a moment to remind everyone of something that sits at the heart of what we do at Mexborough Knights – Respect.
Football is passionate and emotional. We all want our teams to do well and our children to enjoy success, but above everything else, grassroots football should provide a safe, positive and welcoming environment for every child involved.
The vast majority of parents, spectators, coaches and players represent our club brilliantly every week, and we are incredibly proud of the environment our teams create. As the new season begins, we ask everyone associated with Mexborough Knights to help us maintain those standards.
This season, please remember:
Encourage the children – don't criticise them.
Support our coaches and volunteers.
Respect opposition players, coaches and supporters.
Respect the referee and their decisions – whether you agree with them or not.
Keep language and behaviour appropriate around children.
Remember that mistakes are part of learning – for players and officials.
Win with humility and lose with dignity.
Most importantly, remember why we're here – to give children the opportunity to play, develop and fall in love with football.
A result lasts for a weekend. The experience we give our young players can stay with them for years.
We all have a responsibility to set the right example from the touchline, on the pitch and around our club. Players play. Coaches coach. Referees referee. Supporters support.
As a club, we will continue to support the FA and our league's Respect initiatives throughout the season, and we ask every member of the Mexborough Knights family to play their part.
Let's start this season the right way.
Thank you for your continued support, and good luck to every Mexborough Knights team beginning their new season.
Mexborough Knights FC
Together. Respectful. Positive.
