Merthyr Snooker League Snooker League That initially was set up to run in the areas of Merthyr & Dowlais.

Nowadays the league runs successfully having to Cover a wider area, from Merthyr, Ebbw Vale, Rhymney and as far south as Dainygraig.

It’s with Deepest sadness that we say goodbye to one of life’s true gentleman & Ambassador of Welsh Snooker, Ron (Jammy) Jones who passed away this morning.

He was one of life’s characters and not forgetting one of Wales Top snooker players, winning many titles over the decades, nationally and Locally within the South Wales leagues.

It’s been an honour to have known him, played against him,(even though we probably lost) and been part of his life. He will be greatly missed by all.

Our condolences go to his family and also to his right hand man Robert Watkins.

Our thoughts are with you.

We need to Mention and give praise to Robert Watkins who after 27 years of Running the Merthyr Labour 3 Man Tournament has decided to Retire & Step aside. A big Well Done Bob 👏👏👏👏👏

At this evenings Final Bob received a gesture of gratitude for his commitment over the years from all involved with Merthyr Labour Club and especially players involved in the tournament. Presented by no other than 3 times world champion Mark Williams and Brian Hegarty.

All this took place before Merthyr Labour club faced Wexa Warriors in the Final which turned out to be a night of great snooker,Not surprising though with all the talent at the table,
Andrew Isitt lost to Mark Williams (0-1)
Dylan Emery pulled 1 back beating Lee Walker(1-1)
Rhydian Richards then lost to 17 year old Liam Davies (1-2)
Mark Williams then won his 2nd against Andrew Isitt(1-3)
Fifth frame became a little tactical but Lee Walker got ahead forcing Dylan into requiring snookers. Lee managed to grab the win and the Title for the Wexa (4-1).
