This is such a cool transformation from as it shows someone going from skinnyfat to lean, then lean into hench 😆

It is a great example of body re-composition as his bodyweight from the 1st slides left picture the the 2nd slides right picture is practically the same!

So how did we get there?

Well it started off as always with frustration; you probably have been there yourself

He wasn't looking the way he wanted to, was unconfident and tired of ending up at square one again and again

So he decided to do something about it, which led him to me

He had 0 confidence in resistance training, so we guided him through the basics and set him up on a full body training plan 3x per week

This is what fuelled his development as well as gave him the output needed to be in a deficit

We did not need any excess cardio structured in!

As his confidence with training grew so did his strength and he went from never touching a weight room before to banging out 100kg deadlifts!

With direction, structure and accountability Adam went from skinnyfat and unconfident to hench and feeling like his old body was a joke, his words not mine!

It doesn't need to be 6 meals a day, boring, bland and all consuming! Training 6 times a week or twice a day. It's unrealistic and unnecessary.

It has to be fun, both training and eating. Long term adherence is the key to success and you won't get that if you don't like your routine

It is a big step when you are not confident in how you look and make the decision to do something about it

The problem is where do you start?

What should you eat? How much do you need to train? How do you need to train? What changes do you need to make in order to get that look you want? On top of all that, the gym can be an intimidating place, especially when you are not confident in what you are doing

That is how it was for before she started

First we had to address nutrition, which we set out clear targets for and set an energy balance that would get the weight off without sapping her of all her. No crash diets or juice cleanse bu****it. Just though out food choices which allowed for good training performance and improvement

Next challenge was getting training in order. Emma had never weight trained before. So we addressed this by progressing the complexity of movements in line with her confidence and strength, until we reached a point where we were pushing big lifts like squats and deadlifts!

Having a clear strategy in place helps to remove that gym intimidation, as once you know what you are meant to be doing and how to do it things all click into place

The results speak for themselves, it doesn’t matter whether you are a seasoned trainee or a complete beginner

Dieting in itself is not difficult

It's the sustainability of it which dictates success

People always go too extreme trying to get it done as fast as possible

They'll want to be in shape in 6 weeks so starve and overwork themselves to the bone, to only end up looking mildly better from all the stress they have caused themselves

The way to fix this is to learn how to eat enjoyably and consistently so you aren't in-fact dieting at all, just being mindful of what you eat but eating how you want daily

This way you won't have to crash diet, you'll be in shape by a product of your lifestyle

Before Adam signed up

He had many of the same struggles and frustrations with weight loss that many people have

Too much misinformation and no practical experience on how to go about even getting started, let alone making it work

He had struggled with his shape all his life and never really put himself through a proper workout regime

So unfortunately he started doing what everyone seems to do if they want to lose bodyfat, cardio

On top of that he followed the usual "diet" principles people jump to, super low carb with lots of salads and bland boring food

Naturally he joined the same old cycle of ups and downs for months before reaching out and getting on board

We put him on a progressive strength training program

This allowed him to take the focus away from dieting and how he looked and into performance and getting stronger

This is a massive shift mentally in the right direction when doing any diet phase as it allows you to focus on a positive (getting stronger & healthier) rather than just the way you look, which can be all consuming for some and not a straight linear path

We supplemented his strength training with cardio, making it not the focus point but a tool to shift the energy balance in our favour when needed

This shift allows for selective applications of cardio rather than having to just plod away on a treadmill, stairmaster or bike for hours on end for weeks and weeks. It becomes a tool for pushing plateaus rather than using it from the get go. It also allows workout time to be swift and effective

Dietary wise, we clued him into flexible dieting, allowing for meals out and enjoyable foods all without having to cut out an entire macro nutrient just to see a result

Using convenient, time friendly meals we made eating not a chore, keeping it enjoyable and allowing for it to roll over smoothly into his lifestyle

People often idolize and fantasize on the physical benefits of exercise

Yes, working out will make you physically look better but exercising is such a massive boost to your mental health, it is really not talked or celebrated enough

Seeing your confidence, mood and general well being improve is the most underrated aspect of getting in shape

You will genuinely see yourself as if through different eyes

If you battle with negative self thoughts, start putting effort into yourself and watch your mindset shift

It doesn’t need to be all or nothing, just an hour or 2 a week will make a world of difference

You’ll start feeling better > Energy will improve > You’ll want to improve your nutrition > Mood will improve > Results will follow

Have you ever been training and eating “right” without knowing if what you are doing is working; if the effort your putting in is being wasted or not?

That is exactly how my client felt before jumping onboard. Lacking direction, focus and doubting the process. Not 100% sure on what needed to change and why the effort he was putting in wasn’t being reflected in his result

The program and structure allowed for progression, working around problem areas. No more misdirection and confusion on what exercises, how many sets, how much weight. A clear cut and dry plan

Weeks were organised and structured so training sessions were planned in advance and the volume needed would be achieved. Organisation is a big part of being able to look back and see that what you are doing is working, so we provided the foundation and got the result

You don’t have to eat boring, you can eat intuitively hitting your nutritional targets without crazy restriction. No need to remove entire food groups, just eat enough good to maintain performance with enough of what you want to keep you happy! That way fatloss isn’t a chore, it ends up becoming a by-product of eating what you enjoy

With the holiday to aim for, direction and focus was on point and the result followed!
