Our friendly, local cricket club based in Mere, Wiltshire has been running since 2008 and currently has three level two qualified coaches running Under 9's, Under 11's and Under 15 team but welcome children, both boys and girls, from 6 to 15.

With longer days and blue skys our attention turns to the coming Cricket season.
We kick off on Sunday 4th May at home to Horningsham CC. New players and volunteers are always welcome. Whether you’re a seasoned player, a beginner, or just someone who wants to lend a helping hand, there’s a place for you with us.

Our first home game of the season saw a gloriously sunny day at the Duchy Manor Ground. Unfortunately for Mere CC the result wasn’t as fair as the weather.
Captain G. Cassidy winning the toss and elected to bat first. A couple of early wickets for Winsley CC saw Mere quickly on the back foot. A much needed 53* from G.C. helped steady the ship but with wickets continuing to fall at a steady pace, a total of 129 was all that Winsley would need for victory!

Winsley headed out to Bat hoping to knock the score off in quick time and get to the Pub. But Mere tried their best to make a game of it. An early wicket for L. Wood in the second over, some tidy bowling, reserved batting and a wicket for debut bowler Sid meant that the match was in the balance. However even a quick fire spell and wickets for K. Ward (before he left the field for a BBQ) couldn’t save Mere, and Winsley knocked off the runs and won by 5 wickets. Mere certainly did well to take the game all the way to 32 overs!!

Victory for the first game of the season.
Mere CC turned up at Marnhull for a rather damp and gloomy start. Mere were put into bat first. A slow start with a couple of early wickets saw Mere restricted to 146 - 8 with top scores for A Stanfield with 39 and C Cassidy with 33. A strong bowling performance for was needed.
Early wickets for Mere debutant Belaul Emon put Mere in a strong position and wickets continued to tumble with Marnhull being bowled out for 73 from 27 overs.
Stand out bowling figures for B Eamon with 3-6 from 7 overs. And L Wood 3-20 from 7 overs.
Great way to start the season. Many thanks to Marnhull Cricket Club for having us.

Mere Cricket Club are seeking new players for the coming season. We play on Sundays and Wednesday evenings throughout the summer, with an emphasis on playing good friendly Cricket.
