BENROMACH OF FORGLEN
SIRE-MARIONWELLS GLEANN EAGAS
DAM-HANNAH OF FORGLEN

One of the most stunning registered highland ponies we have ever had the pleasure of working with. This boy really is something very special, 8 years old, 14hh1.

Swampy has had a wonderful very varied life up until now doing a mixture of in hand and ridden showing very successfully with many championships to his name. He is a joy to hack and school, he would easily go out and do a prelim or novice dressage test tomorrow or hack from one end of our estate to the other!

He is just as happy to hack alone as he is in company, he will go in huge open fields with no fuss, loves a canter on the beach and has been fantastic with all of the very busy traffic he’s seen with us. He will also happily pop a jump.

He has been ridden by both adults and children, he really is one in a million! Everyone’s best friend on the yard, he’s been out with mares and geldings, great to catch, very easy to have around bath etc. Fully up to date with vacs, teeth, physio and feet. He’s shod all round. Please no time wasters he is incredibly special and we would like to find him a wonderful home. Contact Michelle 07814575886

πŸ‡πŸ’™ RUDI'S FINAL CROSS COUNTRY ADVENTURE! πŸ’™πŸ‡

The final training session of our Somerford trip was reserved for little Rudi... and he certainly didn't disappoint! 🌟🐴

After a brilliant morning on the farm ride and a well-earned break back at the stables 😴🌿, Rudi was more than ready to head back out for one final cross-country adventure.

As always, we started with a few fences that he had already tackled yesterday. πŸͺ΅βœ¨ Young horses gain so much confidence from revisiting familiar questions, and it didn't take long before Rudi was popping them as if he'd been doing it all his life. πŸ˜πŸ‘

Then it was time to raise the stakes a little... πŸ‘€πŸ‡

The big question was whether Rudi was ready to start looking like a fully-fledged event pony rather than a very young horse who has only just turned five.

Safe to say... he answered that question pretty quickly! πŸš€πŸ’™

First up was the same open ditch that Mia had jumped earlier in the day. πŸŒΏπŸ’¨

Many young horses take one look at a ditch and decide it's clearly the entrance to another dimension πŸ˜±πŸ˜‚

Not Rudi.

He simply locked on, popped over it and carried on as though it was the most normal thing in the world. πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘

Next came his very first skinny fence 🎯 followed by the owl hole πŸ¦‰.

The owl hole provided one of the most entertaining moments of the day. Having never jumped through anything before, Rudi carefully ducked his head on both attempts as he went through it! πŸ˜‚πŸ’™

It was a lovely reminder that, although he might be looking very grown up at times, he's still a baby learning his trade and figuring everything out one question at a time. πŸ₯°πŸ΄

Then came the water complex... πŸŒŠπŸ’¦

And what fun that turned out to be!

Not only was Rudi perfectly happy to splash through the water, he decided halfway through that it looked like an excellent place to stop for a drink! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ΄πŸ’¦

That's the wonderful thing about young horses – sometimes they have plans of their own!

What has impressed us most throughout this entire trip has been Rudi's attitude. ❀️

New venue? βœ…

Long journey? βœ…

Busy atmosphere? βœ…

Cross-country fences? βœ…

Water? βœ…

Ditches? βœ…

Skinnies? βœ…

Nothing seemed to faze him.

He simply approached every challenge with a willing attitude, a curious mind and a determination to work things out for himself. 🌟πŸ’ͺ

For a pony that has only just turned five, this has been an incredible experience and one that will stand him in fantastic stead for the future.

The future for this talented little Connemara is looking very bright indeed. πŸ€πŸ‡πŸ’™

And if this week has taught us anything, it's that Rudi isn't just learning how to be an event pony...

He's discovering that he absolutely loves the job. 😍🐴✨

πŸ‡πŸ’– MIA'S FINAL CROSS COUNTRY SESSION AT SOMERFORD! πŸ’–πŸ‡

After discovering her third gear on the farm ride this morning πŸš€πŸ΄, Mia was more than ready for her final cross-country training session of the trip.

With less than two weeks to go until her first BE80 competition at Alnwick πŸ€©πŸ†, this afternoon's mission was simple:

βœ”οΈ Tackle some bigger fences
βœ”οΈ Introduce a few skinnies
βœ”οΈ Continue building confidence
βœ”οΈ Have fun doing it! πŸ’ͺπŸ’–

With Michelle back on board and both of them suited and booted 🦺πŸ₯Ύ, they headed out into Somerford's enormous 80-acre training field πŸŒ³πŸ‡.

As always, we started with a few fences that Mia had already seen yesterday, allowing her to settle into a rhythm and remind herself that this cross-country lark is actually quite good fun! 😍

Then it was time to raise the bar... πŸ“ˆβœ¨

First came a few combinations, followed by a much bigger open ditch πŸ‘€πŸ’¨. These are exactly the sort of questions young horses need to learn to answer confidently, and Mia simply got on with the job.

Next up was an owl hole πŸ¦‰, followed by her very first corner fence πŸ“ and then a brush fence 🌿.

We were absolutely delighted that none of these caused her any concern whatsoever. In fact, the more questions we asked, the more confident she became. ❀️🐴

By the end of the session she was tackling the more technical fences around the second water complex 🌊 and finished her day by jumping a very skinny house fence like she'd been doing it all her life. 🏠✨

What has impressed us most over the last couple of days isn't just Mia's jumping ability.

It's her attitude. πŸ’–

Every new challenge has been met with curiosity rather than worry, and every question has been answered with a willing "I'll give it a go." 🌟

For a young horse at this stage of her education, that's exactly what we're looking for.

All in all, we honestly couldn't have asked for any more from her this week. πŸ‘πŸ₯°

She's heading home with a huge amount of confidence, plenty of new experience under her belt and, most importantly, a smile on her face. 😊🐴

Now it's time to put all of that training to good use as we start counting down to her very first British Eventing competition at Alnwick! πŸ‡πŸ†πŸ’–

We have a feeling this is only the beginning of a very exciting journey... βœ¨πŸš€πŸ€

πŸŒ…πŸ΄ RUDI RETURNS TO THE FARM RIDE! πŸ΄πŸŒ…

After a good night's sleep and a chance to recharge his batteries in his Somerford stable 😴🌟, little Rudi was more than ready for his second adventure out on the farm ride.

Going into today's session we only had two simple goals. Firstly, we wanted him to travel more positively towards the jumps with less hesitation, and secondly, we hoped he might discover that elusive third gear! πŸ‡πŸ’¨

We're delighted to report that Rudi achieved both with ease! πŸ€©πŸ‘

From the moment he headed out onto the course he looked more confident, more purposeful and much more aware of the job in front of him. The fences that had made him pause and think yesterday were now being tackled with growing confidence, and he was beginning to flow from one jump to the next like a much more experienced pony. 🌟🐎

What continues to impress us most is just how mature he has been throughout this whole trip. For a very young 5-year-old, there is an enormous amount to take in at a venue as busy as Somerford. New surroundings, different stables, unfamiliar horses, endless activity and plenty of distractions everywhere you look. Yet none of it seemed to bother Rudi in the slightest. 😎πŸ’ͺ

Instead, he simply put his head down, got on with the job and showed everyone what a sensible and trainable little pony he really is. ❀️🐴

By the end of the session he was confidently cruising around the farm ride, looking far more like an experienced event pony than a youngster at his very first training camp. πŸš€πŸ‡

After all his hard work, Rudi enjoyed a lovely hot shower 🚿✨ before heading back to his stable for some well-earned rest and relaxation ahead of his big afternoon cross-country outing. 😌🌿

We're incredibly proud of how much this talented little Connemara has learned in such a short space of time, and the future is looking very bright indeed for this special boy. πŸŒŸπŸ€πŸ΄

Stay tuned for this afternoon's cross-country adventure... we have a feeling Rudi isn't finished impressing us just yet! πŸ‘€πŸ’–

πŸŒ…πŸ΄ MIA'S SECOND MORNING AT SOMERFORD PARK FARM! πŸ΄πŸŒ…

After a good night's sleep in her luxury Somerford stable and a relaxing morning hand-grazing session 🌿😌, Mia was feeling refreshed and ready for another day of adventure!

This morning's plan saw Michelle and Mia head out onto the farm ride with a slightly different goal in mind. Rather than tackling individual fences, they started linking a number of the jumps together to create something much more like a real cross-country course. πŸ‡πŸ’¨

And what a difference that made! 🀩

Over the last couple of days Mia has been happily working in second gear, but today she suddenly discovered that she actually has a third gear... and more importantly, that she's allowed to use it! πŸš€πŸ”₯

As her confidence grew, so did her enthusiasm. She started travelling forward beautifully between the fences, locking onto her jumps and making everything feel easy. It was fantastic to see her beginning to understand the job and really enjoy herself out on course. 🌟🐎

Once again she made a lovely job of everything that was asked of her, proving just how trainable and willing she is. By the end of the ride she was strutting back home feeling very pleased with herself, full of confidence and ready for whatever comes next. πŸ’ͺ❀️

And, much like her mother, she wasn't at all shy about announcing to absolutely everyone within earshot just how talented she really is! πŸ“’πŸ˜‚πŸ΄

We're incredibly proud of how much Mia has learned during this trip and she's heading home with a huge amount of confidence and experience under her belt. The future is looking very exciting for this special young mare! βœ¨πŸ‡πŸ’–

🐴🌟 Rudi's First Ever Cross Country Adventure! 🌟🐴

Second up for his very first ever cross-country training session was little Rudi... and what a superstar he turned out to be! βπŸ’™

From the moment we arrived, we've been so impressed with just how grown-up this young pony has been. Travelling away from home, settling into completely new stables and taking everything in at a busy venue has all been taken in his stride. πŸ‘βž‘οΈπŸš›βž‘οΈπŸ‡

It says an awful lot about his temperament, and every day he gives us another reason to think he's something a little bit special. ❀️

Once all his protective gear was on 🦺πŸ₯Ύ, Michelle pointed him towards the cross-country field and they wasted absolutely no time getting started. Rather than rushing him, we let him trot into the first few fences, giving him plenty of opportunity to have a good look, work things out and build his confidence. πŸ‘€πŸ€”βž‘οΈπŸ˜Š

Well... that plan didn't last very long! πŸ˜‚

It wasn't long before Rudi decided he knew exactly what he was doing and happily started cantering into his fences instead. πŸ‡πŸ’¨ From there, he simply got better and better with every single jump. 🌟

Everything was deliberately kept small and inviting, but he tackled each new question with an attitude that was impossible not to smile at. 😍

βœ”οΈ Small logs? Easy. 🌳

βœ”οΈ Open ditch? No problem. 😎

βœ”οΈ Steps up and down? Piece of cake. ⬆️⬇️

βœ”οΈ Little drops? "What's next?" πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

And then came the big moment... his very first time in the water! πŸ’¦πŸ΄

As expected, Rudi wasn't remotely worried. In fact, he didn't just wander happily into the main pond... he seemed to think it was his duty to investigate every other bit of water on the course too! πŸ˜‚πŸŒŠπŸ”

The biggest takeaway from today wasn't actually the jumping – although that was brilliant – it was his attitude. πŸ’™

Every new question was met with curiosity rather than concern, he listened beautifully to Michelle throughout, and he stayed relaxed and confident in an environment that could easily overwhelm a young pony. πŸ₯°

Those qualities simply can't be taught, and they're exactly what make us so excited about his future. ⭐

This whole experience has been absolutely invaluable for this talented little Connemara, and we have a feeling there could be plenty of eventing adventures on the horizon. πŸ†πŸŽ

He's still only scratching the surface of what he's capable of, but if today is anything to go by... we're in for a very exciting journey. πŸš€πŸ’™

πŸ“Έ We've got lots more training to come tomorrow, and hopefully some video footage too, because as lovely as these photos are... they still don't quite capture just how impressive this little pony really is! πŸŽ₯🐴✨

Well done Rudi! πŸ‘πŸ’™ We can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! πŸŒŸπŸ€

πŸ‡πŸ’– MIA'S FIRST CROSS COUNTRY TRAINING SESSION! πŸ’–πŸ‡

After a fairly "relaxed" πŸ˜… 6.5-mile morning ride, it was time for Mia's very first cross-country schooling session... and what a star she turned out to be! πŸŒŸπŸ¦„

Before heading out, Mia got kitted out in all her protective cross-country gear 🩷, while Michelle wasn't taking any chances either... on went the brand new body protector 🦺 and the Point Two air jacket πŸ’¨ (hopefully just there for decoration! πŸ˜‚).

Then it was off to the absolutely HUGE cross-country fields... and honestly, if anything, the facilities at Somerford seem even better than our last visit! πŸ€©πŸŒ³πŸ‡ It's easy to see why so many people consider it the best training venue in England. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§βœ¨

We started nice and small πŸͺ΅βž‘️, giving Mia plenty of time to work things out for herself and build confidence πŸ’ͺπŸ’•. It didn't take long before she was happily tackling bigger and more challenging fences πŸ˜πŸ‘, growing in confidence with every single jump.

Her first ditch? πŸ€”πŸ’¨

Absolutely no problem whatsoever! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘Œ (which can be quite a spooky one for many horses! πŸ˜…)

And then came the water... πŸŒŠπŸ’¦

Safe to say... Mia absolutely LOVED it! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ She happily wandered in, had a good look around πŸ‘€, decided splashing was tremendous fun πŸ’¦πŸ’¦πŸ’¦ and treated everyone to her own little water park session! 🩷🀣

Seeing her confidence grow throughout the afternoon was genuinely lovely to watch πŸ₯ΉπŸ’•. She approached everything with a fantastic attitude, plenty of curiosity and a real willingness to learn. 🌟

We're absolutely delighted with how she's taken to it all and genuinely feel she has all the ingredients to become a proper little event horse in the future. πŸ‡β€οΈ

Tomorrow brings another exciting adventure! 🀩 We'll be adding some of the jumps on the farm ride to make things feel much more like a real cross-country course 🌳πŸͺ΅πŸŒŠ and, if all goes to plan πŸ€žπŸ“Ή, we'll hopefully have some videos to share in tomorrow's update too! πŸŽ₯✨

🩷 Well done Mia... you've been an absolute superstar today! πŸ¦„βπŸ’•

β˜€οΈπŸ΄ Somerford Park Farm Training Camp – Day 1 (Morning Session) 🩷🌳

Mia and Rudi had a fantastic first night at Somerford Park Farm and woke up bright-eyed, bushy-tailed and ready for their first day of training! πŸŒ…πŸŽπŸ’ͺ

First things first... introductions to the resident ducks... who quite happily wander in and out of the stables as if they actually own the place! πŸ¦†πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‘ They clearly didn't get the memo that horses are supposed to be the stars of the show!

With that important business out of the way, Mia was suited and booted 🩷πŸ₯Ύ and headed off on the spectacular 6.5-mile Summer Farm Ride. πŸŒ³πŸŒΎβ˜€οΈ

She was absolutely full of herself 🀩 and couldn't wait to get going, taking in the beautiful Cheshire countryside for the very first time. She looked like she'd been coming here for years and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. πŸ΄πŸ’¨πŸ˜

After her morning adventure it was time for a well-earned hot shower 🚿✨, plenty of fuss πŸ₯° and a relaxing break before the afternoon cross-country training. πŸŒΏπŸ‡

Next up was little Rudi... who is definitely on a very steep learning curve this week! πŸ΄πŸ“šπŸ’™

He too was suited and booted πŸ₯Ύβœ¨ before heading out on the Summer Farm Ride for his first ever visit. He was such a brave young man πŸ’™πŸ‘, taking everything completely in his stride and growing in confidence with every step.

With the whole Summer Ride set on lovely prepared sand tracks 🌾, there were plenty of opportunities to let him enjoy some fabulous canters along the way... and he certainly made the most of them! πŸ’¨πŸŽπŸ’¨ Watching his confidence grow was an absolute pleasure. ❀️

After all that excitement, he also enjoyed a lovely hot shower 🚿🫧 before settling down for a well-deserved rest 😴🌿 ahead of the afternoon's cross-country session. πŸ‡πŸŒ³

πŸ“Έ We've got lots more photos from this afternoon's adventures still to come... including plenty of cross-country action! πŸ€©πŸ“·πŸŽ

πŸ¦†πŸ‘‘ Today's important question... Who's causing the most mischief? The resident ducks (who clearly think they own the place! πŸ‘‘πŸ¦†), Mia 🀩 or little Rudi πŸ’™? Cast your vote below! πŸ‘‡πŸ˜‚

πŸš›πŸŒŸ Somerford Park Farm... Here We Come! πŸŒŸπŸš›

The Mini Mac Express was back on the road this afternoon, this time heading south to Somerford Park Farm in Cheshire for what promises to be an exciting few days of cross-country training.

Both Rudi and Mia were prepped for the journey and, true to form, loaded like absolute professionals before setting off on their latest adventure.

After arriving in Cheshire around 6pm, both horses quickly settled into their new accommodation and seemed more than happy to inspect their surroundings before tucking into their evening feeds. Fresh rugs on, haynets filled and beds fluffed up, they're now comfortably settled in for the night and ready to recharge.

Tomorrow is a big day with plenty of cross-country schooling planned, giving both horses another valuable opportunity to gain experience and confidence in a fantastic training environment.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been following their journey so far. Keep an eye on the page over the next couple of days as we'll be sharing plenty more photos, videos and updates from what promises to be an exciting trip.

Wish Team Mac luck... we can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! πŸ΄πŸ’š

πŸŽ‰πŸ΄ A Very Special Arrival at Mac Equestrian Melrose! πŸ΄πŸŽ‰

Today we were absolutely delighted to welcome the beautiful Tessa to the Team Mac family! ❀️

Tessa is owned by our good friend Sal de Martino, who asked us to source a horse for him to own and for us to produce through the eventing ranks. After lots of searching, we finally found this gorgeous 4-year-old mare, recently imported from Holland, and knew she was the one. πŸ‡³πŸ‡±βœ¨

So, bright and early this morning, the Mini Mac Express was dispatched all the way down to sunny Wiltshire πŸš›β˜€οΈ to bring our newest recruit safely home to Scotland.

After travelling like an absolute star ⭐, Tessa arrived this afternoon to a very excited welcome from Sal, his wife Gail and daughter Georgia, who had been eagerly counting down the hours until she arrived. πŸ₯°

Of course, such a special occasion called for a few celebratory bubbles... πŸ₯‚πŸΎ although from the look of it, Tessa was rather interested in joining the celebrations herself! πŸ˜‚β€οΈ

For now, she'll enjoy a few well-earned days to relax, settle into her new surroundings and find her feet after her big journey. 🌿 Then the real fun begins as we start her backing and education. 🐎✨

A huge welcome to the exclusive Team Mac Owners Club, Sal! ❀️ We're incredibly excited to have you on board and can't wait to see what the future holds for you and Tessa.

Here's to the beginning of what we hope will be a fantastic partnership and many exciting adventures together! πŸ€πŸ‡πŸ₯‚
