Situated in the village of Mellor, Stockport where the Cheshire Plain meets the High Peak, our beautiful, challenging course has stunning views over at least 5 counties. In 1745 John Wesley, the famous Methodist Minister, stood on what is now the 10th fairway and described the view that stretched before him as “Paradise”. Mellor Golf Club was born in 1894. The Townscliffe Golf Club across the valley, adjacent to Mellor Church, was founded in 1908 and lasted for twelve years before it joined with Mellor in 1920, and in accordance with a promise made to the members at that time Mellor and Townscliffe Golf Club was soon extended to 18 holes. During its 125+ year history, the club has been resident in three counties, Derbyshire, Greater Manchester and Cheshire and our course boasts views over these and other counties!
