I am very lucky to say I have 24 years experience in the industry but that was not nearly the case. 21 years ago after the birth of my daughter I thought that my fitness career was over as I suffered from a very rare condition called pregnancy related Osteoporosis. This resulted in me suffering from multiple fractures in my spine and losing 3 inches in height and I was left in constant pain with
very limited mobility. It felt like my whole body had changed as well as my life within a matter of a few weeks! I was unable to go out of the house for months or lift up my new baby girl and care for her like a new mother would want to. Initially I thought I would never be in a position to teach again but in fact my fitness knowledge was the one thing that helped me regain my mobility and strength, especially with Pilates. It was around the time when Pilates just started to become popular and I was lucky enough to find a Pilates instructor who worked with me to regain strength and body awareness and slowly but surely my pain became less and I could do more. So, once I felt able I took the qualifications so I could teach Pilates and help others. I have gained numerous qualifications over the years with my recent being in Fitness Pilates for Orthopaedic conditions. I have taught all types of classes including aerobics, lbt's. cardio tone, healthy back, falls prevention, zumba, fitsteps, dancefit, silver shakers and many more. I love music and I love to dance, so mainly I teach the dance style classes and also I enjoy the slower controlled feel of Pilates focusing on mobility, posture and core strength. Even though I still live with back pain I know I am the best that I can be because of exercise, especially Pilates which has helped ease my pain, improve my posture, mobility & flexibility. Pilates is beneficial for general fitness, specific health conditions and most of all your overall health and well being. In January 2021 I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes which has made exercise even more important and moving regularly throughout the day in any way can help control diabetes and prevent long term complications, so keep moving everyone
