Once again, a comprehensive win for the U12s last night against St.Annes that moves the lads to 6 wins from 6 so far in the season.

Losing the toss (again) and being asked to field might not have been plan A, but St. Annes were held at bay by some accurate bowling, and despite a few gifts in the in-field, plus some kamikaze running between the wickets, finished their 20 overs with 81/7.

In response, Mawdesley set about their task from ball one and quickly reached their target in just 6.5overs for the loss of only one wicket!

Well done to Noah (28*) for retiring not out and to Seb (19no) and Harry (17no) for getting the team over the finishing line in double quick time.

The under 15s made it 4 wins out of 4 with a 107 run against Lytham. Mawdesley scored 157 for 2, Ed 50 not out, James C 49 not out and Rory. Lytham were bowled out for 50 with Ethan 2 for 7, Arin 3 for 8 the main contributors (Apologies for not photos!)

The ladies have hit a vein of form in recent weeks, initially getting their first win of the season against a good Formby team in a close match 100/4 beating 95/4!!

Followed up by a great win on the hottest night of the year so far at Liverpool CC winning by 34 runs in a very sweaty, closely fought competition.

Topped off by our biggest win so far over at Ormskirk CC. Winning the toss and chosing to field, the ladies were superb in the field, restricting Ormskirk to 106/5. The second innings saw Jodie and Heather get us off to a fantastic start, getting us half way to our target in the first 4 overs. Steady progress was made in the middle overs, and Ormskirk played their part by holding on to some excellent catches! The final pair went on to bat with just 8 runs to get, but rather than limit themselves to getting just past the post, Anne and Nina played their game rotating the strike and putting away the bad balls to finish on a fabulous 149/6.

Next up, we will be hosting Northern CC at Rectory Field on 1st July, and it would be lovely to see you all there supporting the ladies!!

Another strong performance for the U12s on Monday night vs a game Fylde side.

Losing the toss and being put into bat Mawdesley set about piling the runs on and despite losing a few more wickets than in previous games they still managed to amass a fairly hefty 136/7.

Well batted to both Seb 28* and Harry 27* for getting to retire not out and another good score for Noah, 22 before ending up on the wrong side of what seemed like a tight call from the umpire.

In response, Flyde struggled to really get going and score with any sort of fluency, and despite a late flurry of runs with got them to 99/8 it was never enough.

5/5 so far with St Anneโ€™s due at Rectory Field on Thursday evening.

Well done to the U12โ€™s on a lovely Sunday morning. A pretty unequivocal performance with both bat and ball. ๐Ÿ

After losing the toss and being put in the field Fulwood and Broughton made a steady start making 37-0 from the first 7 overs. However, 3 wickets in the 8th over turned the innings on its head and then it was a steady flow of wickets from there on in. A bit of a flourish from the tail managed to push F&B beyond 50 before eventually succumbing 77 all out.

In response, Mawdesley set about their task as is now expected, knocking the runs off in just under 10 overs losing no wickets (finishing 80/0). Well batted to Noah 26* and Seb 25* retiring not out and Harvey anchoring the innings and finishing off to end up on 19 not out.

Games are thick and fast at the minute for the U12s, Flyde next tonight (Monday evening) and then St Anneโ€™s on Thursday.

Keep up the good work lads ๐Ÿ‘

Friday night's U13s Lancashire Cup game went down to the wire.

Unfortunately, it wasn't to be for the MCC U13s last night in the Lancashire Cup.

Loosing the toss, we were asked to bat first. Facing a good bowling attack, MCC posted a slightly below par 76 all out with only James C reaching double figures and finishing 31* and Seb and Arin, the other main contributors finishing on 7 a piece.

With only 76 to defend in the 2nd innings, the boys made a great fist off it with both James C and Monty having chances of hatricks. The whole team battled hard, and unfortunately, we ended up losing on the penultimate ball of the innings.

As tough as it was to watch from the boundary rope, theyโ€™ll have learnt more from last night than every other game this seasonโ€ฆ it was some achievement to just get into the competition.

Well done, lads, great things to come in the future. Onwards and upwards ๐Ÿ’™

Last night, I saw the U13s take on local rivals Chorley.

Batting first on a spongy wicket, the Mawdesley boys kept their discipline and took their opportunities to score runs when they came along.

The top 3 all retiring not out (James C 30*, James L 30* and Monty 31*) to end up on 114/1 from their 20 overs. In response, Chorley set about their chase well, but regular wickets falling meant they ran out of batters on 98, 17 short of their target with 13 balls remaining.

Another solid win for the U13s and a good warm-up before their Lancashire Cup QF this Friday pm vs. Warton CC from the Westmorland League.

Match reports, well done lads, onto next week ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’ช
