Come and make the most of it!

‼️Bookings and payment ‼️

Just a reminder that when booking the cross-country course, payment is required for each horse.

Unfortunately, we’ve had a few instances recently where a booking has been made and one horse paid for, but two or more horses have arrived to use the course, or no booking has been made at all.

This is our business, and a considerable amount of time, work and money goes into keeping the course safe, maintained and in tip-top condition for everyone to enjoy. While we really don’t like having to say it, using the facilities without paying in full is essentially no different from taking a service without paying for it.

While the vast majority of our fantastic clients respect this, sadly it is becoming a more regular problem with the minority, so we’ll be carrying out more frequent spot checks on the course from now on.

Please make sure that every horse in your group is booked and paid for before using the course.

Thank you so much to everyone who continues to support us, book correctly and help us keep the course running. We’d much rather be spending our time on improvements and building new jumps than checking who has booked in and paid - and who has not! 😊🐎

This year’s hot, dry summer has raised important questions:

When is it too hot to compete?

How can we train when the ground is so hard?

Should we be trying to keep our horses fit at all?

The answers, of course, depend on individual circumstances.

However, cross-country schooling does not have to mean galloping over hard ground. You can achieve plenty without putting unnecessary strain on your horse’s legs.

If you are considering a schooling session, keep these points in mind…

🐴 Rising eventing star Archie Humfrey is a regular face at Lodge Farm XC, and we loved watching him guide his exciting 5yo, ‘Spike’, around the horse’s very first event at the Friends of Freddie Horse Trials here on Sunday 🐴

Archie says: “Lodge Farm is an outstanding XC schooling venue for both youngsters and more experienced horses. The fantastic grass cover, excellent ground conditions and meticulous fence maintenance mean I can school my horses with complete confidence throughout the year - even in this hot, dry weather. You’d be hard pushed to find a course with better going in this weather.”

🚜 Thanks to constant mowing and thick covering of grass, our ground retains that all-important cushioning even when other places are bare and parched.
