Dear Members,
We are committed to providing a safe, positive and supportive training environment for all members, including our junior members under the age of 16.
Recently, we have noticed that some younger members are using equipment without the correct technique or supervision and behaving in a manner not suitable for the gym, especially when in groups. To help reduce the risk of injury and ensure everyone trains safely and enjoys their experience, we will be introducing some changes to how under-16 members may use the gym.
For clarity, members under the age of 16 are only permitted to use cable weighted equipment and cardio suitable for their age, experience and ability.
In addition, under-16 members will not be permitted to use the gym other than between 3:00pm and 6:00pm Monday-Friday, unless supervised by an adult.
This time restriction is being introduced as a result of feedback from other members and observations by staff of behaviours in the gym.
Parents and guardians are asked to support us with this policy by encouraging junior members to follow the gym rules and seek help from staff when needed.
These changes are not designed to discourage younger members from training. We want them to enjoy exercise, build confidence and develop good habits, but this must be done safely and responsibly.
Any under-16 member who repeatedly ignores staff guidance, uses restricted equipment without permission, or attends during restricted times may have their gym access reviewed.
