Clock Face too strong
Clock Face Miners proved too strong for a youthful Maryport side on Saturday in the NCRL Shield group game
The Miners were 24-4 up at half time and came out on top by 52-14
Credit to our lads though, fielding 6 17 year olds and another 5 U21s they never gave in and on another day, could of possibly scored more points but ex*****on of the final pass and being unable to complete sets close to the Clock Face line meant we didn’t build enough pressure and allowed The Miners cheap field position to capitalise
The lads never gave up and scored tries through prop Luke Baker (who was awarded the Man of The Match by the opposition coaches), stand off Craig Foster and centre Danny Herbert with scrum half Lewis Moore kicking a goal. Second row Ciaran McCrickerd, who along with Foster answered the call to add some much needed experience to the 17 after playing A team most of the season, was awarded the MoM from the referee for an all action display in his first game since early July. Credit also to Harry Blamire on debut who done his job well when he came on
With a number of players being unable to travel, hopefully a more experienced side will be available for the return fixture this Saturday. 2:30pm KO
We need to win and also turn over the 38 point deficit to progress to the Quarter Finals
