Congratulations to our U12s who got their first win of the season this morning by 16-8 against Lowca

The lads have done it tough this season but have stuck together and finally got their rewards for their efforts and hard work

Well done to coaches Ryan Mayne and Scott Burns who have steadily built the numbers training and playing each week and progressed with each game they’ve played

The futures bright for our Club and this age group is another vital part of that

Maryport U9s travelled to Burtonwood today and didn’t disappoint! Some fantastic Rugby League on show, with the team putting in a brilliant performance and coming away with the victory. A huge well done to every player for their effort and teamwork, and a big thank you to our hosts for a great day.

🔵🟡Today Maryport travelled to Burtonwood to play the return fixture. With completely different conditions from mud bath to heatwave we knew this was going to be a challenge. The Maryport side was very depleted travelling with only 14 players, but the boys who turned up can really hold their heads up high and they did themselves and Maryport proud.

The game was well controlled throughout with the score not reflecting the work the young Maryport boys put in on the pitch. It was Burtonwood who crashed over for the first points on the board and again with one conversion before half time making it 10-0.

The Maryport boys kept attacking well with most of the possession for the second half, coming away with a fabulous try from Mason and Kenzie with the assist. Successfully converted by Theo making it 10-6

Unlucky with a lot of decisions from the ref and not being on the right side of any 50 50 calls including a great line ball from Half back Harrison to Olly which was called forward which prevented a certain try, but the boys kept battling. Another try from Alfie would have taken us into the lead but held up was the call. Several more failed attempts to crash over the line being held up it wasn’t to be Maryport’s day. Burtonwood secured the win with a further two tries making the full time score 22-6

Massive shout out to Lucas Howe who took a record breaking amount of ball in and T for his tackling. The boys should hold their heads up high after a very well matched physical game.

It was great to see that a couple of lads really impressed the watching scouts including Wigan Warriors who were asking additional information about certain players.

Well done to all the lads involved today. Heads up and we go again after the break.
