I’ve posted about Somerset and Dorset fingerposts previously, but this is one of 7 rare red fingerposts in the counties, 3 in Somerset and 4 in Dorset.
The reason for them being red isn’t known, they could be on the site of executions (hanging), to mark historic transport routes for convicts or navigational landmarks for illiterate travellers. Secret Lanes - A different way to explore
