Nomads HFT

Nomads HFT An HFT club It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce the opening of a new HFT club set in the Worcestershire village of Berrow Green, Martley.

Nomads HFT is a brand new club opening at the superb ground that was formerly home to Worcester Air Rifles. The club, run by the members, opened in August 2015 and has been welcoming new and old shooters from all walks of life. We mostly shoot HFT courses set to UKAHFT specifications but we are trying to expand the facilities at the club to cater for other shooting disciplines and for those that d

o not wish to compete in any particular discipline. There is also a plinking range with targets ranging from 8 yards to over 50 yards. Come and zero your rifle and work out your range cards. There are paper targets, spinners and knock-over targets to practice on. There are pegs to rest your rifle on when shooting prone and there are a couple of benches that can be used if you prefer to shoot sitting. There are normally a few experienced HFT shooters on site, who are more than happy to help new shooters with setting up their rifles and with advice about the technical aspects of airgun shooting.

It was the second of four rounds of the Compass Series today at Nomads. 29 shooters in total today which is a great turnout.

A cheeky wind in places ( wouldn't be Nomads without ) and some devilish range traps, thank you Mr Cowan

Only a handful of shooters at Nomads today, due to most being away at the Nationals in Harrogate.
As it turned out we were in for very challenging mornings shooting, the wind was blustery and gusting requiring very careful consideration before taking your shot.
Given the conditions you probably wouldn't be suprised to learn Jason Cowan topped the scoring with 57 having missed only 2 targets . A good score was had by Mark Stretton (53) putting him in second place. Perry Broad topped the recoiling class today with 51 Just ahead of Chris Collins on 49.

Just a reminder next Sunday is round 2 of our compass series with 3 out of 4 rounds to count.

A great days shooting was had by all attendees at Nomads today, temperature was warm but with a bit of cloud cover, and shade afforded by the trees on the woodland path, I would say just about right. However, this perfect temperature was accompanied by a gusty breeze which worsened the further you went around the course especially over the top of the hill for the final 10 lanes or so.

Top score of the day was Elliot Compton with an outstanding 58, followed by Lee Platt and Harry Compton with an almost equally as good 56. In recoiling Chris Collins continued his recent run of good form scoring 51 with his LGV Master pro, beating Perry Broad (also on 51, by means of countback) into the top recoiling spot. Top lady today was Dawn Harding with 41.

The ukahft Recoiling event is always a good day and today was no exception. We had great weather a great course and obviously great people.

Before I get to the scores I'd just like to say a big thank you to all of the people who helped out today and for the last few weeks. The course setters, the ladys who did the catering, the marshalls and all of the other helpers. You were all fantastic!

So now to the scores. A brilliant performance from Brett Holloway saw him top score for the second year running. One of the only two shooters to make it into the fifties (52) the other being Chris Collins one point behind on 51.
The third place trophy was decided by a shoot off between Perry Broad and Graeme Cargan, with Graeme taking the honours.

In sticks Mark Stretton prevailed scoring 48 ending the previous 2 years domination by Mike Hymas.

Great shooting all thankyou for a brilliant day.

A lovely day to be at Nomads today, with the bluebells and wild garlic in full bloom making for a very picturesque setting. The sun was shining and the wind was hardly enough to trouble the flight path of one's pellet. That said, it was easy to adjust for wind that wasn't there.

There were some good scores at the top with Jason Cowan taking yet another overall win, scoring 56, followed closely by Lee Platt one point behind on 55. Third place overall this week went to Recoil shooter Perry Broad with 54. Top sticks shooter today was Keith Jones scoring a Nomads PB of 50 (well done Keith) Top lady making good progress with her new wulf scope was Louise Bell.

Great shooting all!

What a lovely day to be out at Nomads shooting tin chickens in the woods with like minded individuals. The weather was pleasant sunshine mixed with our usual mischievous wind, although not as trixy as of late, but still enough to catch out the unwary.

Top shot today was Jason Cowan with a magnificent 58, followed by Mark Stretton (55), and in third place, Ewan Strachen & Dave Gallichan on 53 apiece.
In recoiling, Chris Collins was out on his own with 51, followed by Dave Gaynor (47). Top sticks shooter today was Andrew Bradbury (50), and top lady by virtue of countback was Louise Bell.

We had a great turnout today, I think 25 in total, so thank you everybody for your continued support. Look forward to seeing all again soon.
